Can be a problem regarding the cartridge. What is the status of the color cartridge. Take a printout with the color cartridge alone. If no problem found get your PG40 cartridge replaced. One thing to be noted is that the printer always needs the color cartridge installed. Printer can work with color cartridge alone. But will not work without a color cartridge
You can try this it works for my 1500 printer.
Go to the printer settings and turn off the ink low messages.
Switch your printer on and hold the paper feed switch down for the count of five the orange light should flash. Then switch off the power and switch back on again the green light should stay steady. If you do not come right on this one you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Hello! Remove the cartridges and gently wipe the cartridge contacts with a dry cloth, then put them back in. Then, hold the "resume" button for 10 seconds for each cartridge, that
should reset them. If that doesn't work, one of your cartridges (sadly) needs to be replaced.
