Question about LG 37LC7D 37 in. LCD HDTV
We unplugged our LGE 42" LCD TV (and AV equipment) during construction for several weeks. When we plugged everything back in, the remotes worked for everything else, but not the TV.
The Cox remote works for the cable, but does not operate the TV. The TV remote does not operate the TV. The buttons on the TV DO operate the TV, so I know the functions still work.
What could be causing the problem?
Bad filters on the main board or a bad AUX REMOTE jack on the back of the unit (also part of the main board) re the cause of this problem.
Try plugging in any jack that will fit into the AUX REMOTE jack on the back and then pulling it back out. This may fix the problem or remove any dust that may have collected in the jack. If this jack has something plugged into it (or goes bad) the TV will no longer have remote control operation (because it thinks an external remote box is being used). If this does not work then the main board will need replaced.
Note, many repair techs will think the IR board is bad (the Infra-Red Receiver board) at the front of the TV, but this is usually not the case with this model.
Hope this helps, please rate my solution.

THANK YOU ! THANK YOU!
I had the same problem with my LG 42LC3R 42" LCD TV and your solution solved the problem. I simply plugged in an RCA stereo jack to the AUX remote port on the back, removed it and that solved the problem. Aparently, dust or something got in there. How simple!
I had just got off the phone with LG, and because the TV is out of warranty, they wanted me to bring it to a service center far away for evaluation. Quite a task, given I don't have a box for it nor a car to take it. You're solution made my day!
