Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-F828 Digital Camera

Open Question

Won't turn on

My F828 just refused to turn on one day. I thought the battery was dead so I put it on the charger. When I reinstalled the battery it still wouldn't come on. I checked the owner's manual and it said to put the reset button. I did that and it still won't turn on. I know the battery is good. Anybody else experienced this problem? Other than this the camera has worked flawlessly.

Any ideas?

Hello all! I am the one who took the pics of my class and then my wonderful camera stopped working. Before I sent $181 to Sony just to have them looka t the camera. The online helper suggested that I take the batteries out, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds, let the camera sit for a few minutes without batteries, then place new "good" batteries in it. Well thats what I did and taadaa IT WORKED. I am so excited that I save $181 and my camera is working just as if it was brand new. I hope this solution helps someone!

SOURCE: camera doesn't turn on or do anything

I had a similar problem. Mt battery was dead but showed a charge when I put it in the camera. See if you can borrow a battery from another owner or camera shop and try it.

I cant turn my sony f828 camera on

Oops. You should know, putting the wrong voltage on a electronic device, can cause serious damage. Just one volt more, can be 20 or 30 percent too much. And that can cause lots and lots of damage. Try to remove the battery, and check if the battery is still o.k.. Use a multi meter, to check if the voltage is just a little above the voltage printed on the battery. Try charging the battery on an external charger. And shane charged, try if the camera works. If not, I'm afraid only a Sony certified repair centre can help you. And I think I can cost you. Because they know when the damage is caused by an over voltage.
Lets hope you don't need Sony.

Will not charge when plugged in

have you tried an external battery charger and a different battery?..... maybe its the camera not sending power to the battery..... or the battery is good and the camera is dead, the external charger will help you decide where the fault is.

The camera doesn't open and it doesn't charge. It is dead.

I wonder if you attached the right voltage of charger.
Thats what I did. I put on a 9v dc charger
Now my v570 is dead......but ironically it will still charge a battery.
Now an expensive battery charger!

Using up batteries in two days

if you are using "AA" size, do NOT use typical alkalines in your camera, they die too fast. Buy rechargable NiMH batteries and a charger at Walmart or somewhere. These will hold a charge longer for you. Also be sure to turn off teh camera when not shooting because the camera is always draining battery life when "on."

Charging issues

It could be a dud battery I guess even on a 'new' camera , or a faulty charger Your best bet is to pack it up and return it to seller for replacement.
