Sorry, I should have been more specific. Could you tell me what operating system (OS) and service pack (SP) you are running? Also, are either of these pieces of equipment new? When you attempt to scan an item what actually occurs - do you get an error message (if so, exactly what is it?) or does the printer scan and simply not send, etc.?

Are all other wireless functions (printing, e.g.) working properly?

Thank you for your input, and I look forward to hearing back.

Can not find the scanner icon on my computer where is it located?

start button (or orb thingy in the bottom left of the screen in Vista\Win7), control panel, scanners and cameras?
you may have to, within the control panel, change view to classic (XP - top left) or view small icons (vista/Win7 -top right) to see the icon.

it should also show in start, computer, listed under your hard disks and dvd drives.

I am not that familiar with operating this model lexmark, but you may find a scan utility under start\all programs\lexmark\... or something similar.

To scan from within a program, such as photoshop, you normally have to select a TWAIN source first, and the go file, import, from scanner, or something similar, depending on your program.

Hope this info helps.

How do i scan using a HP desktop F380

Deskjet F380 features a scanner within the upper portion of the device. "Scanning" an item describes the electronic process of converting pictures or text to data, then transferring that data to the computer as an image. Scanning an item into the computer is a simple task with the F380, the only limitation is the size of the item,
follow the steps below
Step 1
Turn the unit on by pressing the "On" button located at the top control panel. The control panel is located on the left side of the unit. The "On" button will illuminate to indicate that the unit is receiving power.
  • Step 2 Load the scanner with the item to be scanned. First, lift the lid of the F380 to the upright position to reveal the scanning surface. Place the item to be scanned face down onto the scanning surface. Position the item so that the edge of the item rests squarely against the front left-hand corner of the scanning surface, then close the unit's lid.
  • Step 3 Press the "Scan" button located at the lower left-hand corner of the F350's control panel to start the scan. If necessary, the scanning process can be stopped by pressing the "Cancel" button located just to the left of the "X" on the control panel.
  • Step 4 Save the scanned image to the computer when the scan is complete by clicking the "Accept" button on the window that appears on the computer's monitor.
