The reason you have the starup error will no doubt be because your keyboard is not detected. Bios generally requires a keyboard.
Test you keyboard on another PC and if it doesnt work there replace it :D

Lenovo a310 screen won't boot up and turn on

This could be a case of overheating.
First question, did the no signals sign appear out of the blue?
Check inside for melted components.
Clean your computer, remove all dust.

Check back with me.

Keyboard won't always work on start up

Try a different keyboard. If you're currently using a ps/2 keyboard, then for sure get a usb keyboard.

My hp p6620f does not boot at startup

Hi Netty,

Firstly remove the RAM memory from the main board, clean it with an anti static spray and replace it making sure it sits firmly in its slot.
Try to turn on your PC again. If it still won't switch on you may have to replace the power supply. First check this by plugging in a power supply from another working PC.
Best wishes,

None of the keys work on hp logo screen F10, f11. f9. esc system won't boot from hard drive or cd

Hi,

are you using a usb keyboard? A lot of systems require a ps/2 (purple round connector) keyboard to access the bios settings and anything on the startup screen unless you have set usb on boot in the bios settings. I would try connecting a ps/2 keyboard and see if it helps.

I have a Gateway 7010715R (KR-0532) HID keyboard. I have lost my on-screen display for lock key indicators because the keyboard does not have indicator lights like a wired keyboard. What controls this...

This OSD is controlled by your keyboard driver. If you were previously getting On Screen Display and you are not getting it now, it is possible that you might have disabled the startup items from mscofig. In that case enabling the startup items will resolve this issue. Or else re-install the driver and software of keyboard to resolve this issue.

Hye i have a mother board asus p28-f and every time that i start my pc it shows, keyboard error or no keyboard present keyboard is locked out- unlock the key. i can't even get into the bios. does anyone...

Are you using a USB keyboard? If so, try a different USB socket on the back panel of the motherboard.

Some motherboards can use a USB keyboard in the OS, but do not recognize it on startup; they only look for PS/2 keyboards. If you can get into the BIOS, you may find a keyboard startup option that lets you adjust this behavior.

If you are using a known good PS/2 keyboard, your keyboard jack may be worn out or broken. If you have unplugged the keyboard and plugged it back in just before you started having problems, unplug the keyboard and look inside the plug for bent or broken pins. PS/2 connectors are really nasty about being forced in at the wrong rotational angle.

Worst case, and least likely - the keyboard controller chip is not working.

The screen is stuck on windows media edition and the mouse and keyboard(wireles) do not work

Sounds like your computer is locking up. Try booting into safe mode by pressing f8 before it boots the windows. If you get into safe mode try removing all startup items by going to start> run> Type msconfig and go to the start tab and disable all startup items and restart. If pressing f8 doesn't work I would try new batteries in the keyboard or get a wired keyboard. You could have bad hardware like memory or hard drive that are the two biggest causes of a computer freezing.

Emachine desktop is hanging at the intial startup screen

Most probably the keyboard has konked out. Simply try the same with a working keyboard & mouse, 'cos it seems to get stuck during POST(power on self test) due to one or more components malfunctioning. If you had removed the PS2 jacks recently, check for bent pins too.................sodeep

Sound control of the keyboard is not working :(

Download and install the control program for the keyboard from the manufacturer's website. Also, there is a "startup" executable that must be running in order for the "helper" program to work - if you've done a registry cleanup or tweaked your startup with msconfig or another utility, it may have disabled it.
