Question about Shavers

Braun shaver model 5428

I took apart my Braun shaver, model 5428, to service it. In the process. there was a small spring that popped out, and I do not know where it goes back in reassembly. I believe it has something to do with the power switch (or the beard trimmer, which is on the same slide switch as the power on/off slider. What I really need is a parts explosion diagram, so that I can reassemble the shaver. I cannot seem to find one online, including at the Braun site. Are you aware if such a diagram is available?

Unfortunately, I never did find the information I required. I tried various ways to reinsert the spring, the last one was probably too forceful, and I ended up destroying the spring. So, I just set it aside, and reassembled the shaver without it. It works, but just does not have the 'snap' when switch it on/off, and from shaver to trimmer.

I have fixed mine. the pointy end fits in a hole next the the part that actuates the long hair trimmer (on the trimmer). this points out to the side of the shaver, and the rounded end fits into a little slot on the body of the shaver, slightly lower than the track the long hair trimmer slides along, and towards the top.its fiddly getting it all back together, but its perfect now. Dead pleased.

Today I did the same thing & have that spring waiting to be reassembled as you.
Or did you by chance figure out or find out from someone where it goes by now ?
I tried adding it every which way you can think of but w/o success !!
It seems strange that Braun would keep an old diagram so secret but I guess they want folks
like us to buy their new models, which I had but returned back to the dealer
because of the poor shaves ! Hope you can help or I'll look so more in my spare time !
Thanks, Bg pnba67@hotmail.com

Braun Pulsonic model 9595. Trimmer will not close properly. Can I repair this myself?

The trimmer is replaceable and can be purchased as an assembly http://buyitnow64.stores.yahoo.net/brshrese7pul.html You will T-6 and T-8 torx drivers to take apart the head end of the shaver. Using these tools, remove the swiveling head, the hold down cover over the motor assembly, and then pop off the drive arm for the trimmer. Now the broken trimmer assembly can be slid out of the end of the shaver by carefully prying between the case where the on/off button is located and the black trimmer assembly base with a small flat blade jeweler's screwdriver. The new trimmer assembly can then be slid into the case and the shaver reassembled. Just be sure the ends of the retraction spring on the new trimmer assembly are installed over the little chrome retaining lugs for them or your trimmer will not fully retract (my trimmer assembly arrived with the spring ends loose and not retained by the lugs).

I just need to know where I can get new batteries for my braun syncro 7505. The batteries don't have any markings telling the volts or milliamps. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me with...

Yes, these are NiMH AA 1.2V flat top batteries. Replacements can be found on some battery websites (like onlybatteries.com). I'd get the 2200mAh rated ones, as they'll hold a longer charge than the 1650mAh ones. You will need two of them (the shaver has a 2.4V motor). This works for most Braun shaver models from 6000 to 8000.

The razor head comes loose from the two arms.

The one piece motor drive which also contains the shaver head in the Braun wear out. They can be replaced by yourself or a shaver tech. A good place for parts, http://shaveroutlet.com/.

To disassemble the 7000 Series Braun shaver.

Disassembly of the 7000 Braun shaver is basically the same as the 8000 series Braun shaver listed below. The 7000 is actually easier to disassemble as the plastic is much thicker and the bottom socket cover pops right off as there are less tabs and they are bigger.

To disassemble the 8000 Braun Series shaver.

Remove the plastic cover on the bottom that covers the corded socket. Be careful, there are a total of two tabs on the short sides and four very small tabs on the long sides. I usedmy fingernail to create a space big enough to insert the corner of a credit card in the center of the long side opposite the blue light indicator, then gently removed the cover. Using a screwdriver could damage the plastic.

The two sides then pop off, they only fit on their respective side when replacing. Don't lose the two small black seals on the top of each side piece.

There are a total of four screws holding the body together. Remove the screws, using the proper flat blade or torx screwdriver. The shaver will then split into. You can then remove the the Motor Drive Unit and the separate circuit board with the batteries.

This would also be a good time to clean the goo buildup from around the shaver head.

Assembly is the reverse of above. The Motor Unit will only fit in one way, there is a flat side and a angular side. Be sure the pin for the trimmer is placed in its proper hole, or it won't extend.

I had a similar problem where one of the side covers popped off. I was able to reattach it, by carefully aligning the spring and pushing back into place. If you've lost the pin, you're out of luck. Braun does not make these kinds of parts available for user servicing, unfortunately.

However, the 7000 series models are all compatible with each other in terms of motor, battery, and razor head armature. You could try locating a moderately used example on the cheap (maybe less than $20) and then cannibalize it for the parts you need.

Do NOT send it off to Braun for servicing, as you will be charged much more than the shaver is worth. If it comes to that, you're better off just going with an 8000 series shaver.

Braun Pulsonic Razor - Pop up trimmer will not retract entirely

I ran into this problem several months ago. I just shook it and forced it until it retracted and never thought anything of it. The trimmer recently broke (still functioned but extended beyond its normal point) and I took it apart. I realized that there were a few broken parts inside (possibly because of my earlier experience). So I removed the few parts and now it still extends to far, but otherwise functions ok if I'm careful.

I would recommend taking yours apart and seeing if you can find any parts floating around which may be causing it to not retract all the way. It may be broken beyond complete repair, but you may be able to get a little more use out of it.

If nothing else, you can order a new casing for it from here

Here are the instructions for taking it apart:

The shaver itself is easy to take apart. The part on the bottom(opposite from the shaver mechanism) pops off with just a slight bit ofprying. Be careful not to break the pins though. Once you have thatoff, the narrow sides pop off pretty easily. Then you can remove the 4screws opening up the interior.

Be careful at this pointbecause there are a lot of parts that may fall out. (Perhaps take apicture as soon as you open it so you know where everything was whenyou opened it). At this point you can try your hand at fixing it (minehad 3 parts broken and loose inside), or you can simply switch it withthe new casing (Which i'm going to do when I get it). Good Luck!

Braun 5520 Shaver Stopped Working

The "Braun 5520" doesn't have the 2 screws under 2 small caps on bottom, as described by so many on these boards.
The round plastic plug receptacle 'itself' is the release. (Twist-Release the outer ring.)
Look on the base, where you plug the AC cord in.... Just inside the rim, you will see two small 'recesses', opposite each other, that allow a wedge tool (like a large screw driver) to turn the rim counter-clockwise (left) 45 degrees, releasing the base and housing.
Once this is unlocked, slide the cover off and pop the black retainer cover off to reveal the "PC Board W/Batteries" module/assembly. (Batteries are NOT replaceable by themselves.)
There is a tiny (and I mean "tiny"!) resistor that burns out in the circuit board and causes the majority of power malfunctions in these models.
You can order a new PC Board (with batteries) for approx. $40.00. (+ S&H)
One place is: "http://www.electricshaverstore.com/get_item_5505631_braun-pc-board-w-batteries.htm".
(Fits Models: 5510, 5515, 5520, 6515, 6520, 6510, 6512 - Types: 5505, 5506, 5705, 5706)

Or, find other by Googling "Braun 5520 Circuit board assembly", and/or replace this model with your number.

Braun latch

I had the same problem.  Press the blue button to make the "head" of the charging mechanism pop up (probably already stuck this way), then pull it up slowly but firmly.  It should pop out with little difficulty.  Keep pulling it up until you've removed the entire head from the charger, but make sure you don't pull far enough to yank out the wire that attaches the head to the charger base.
You will expose a spring housed in a white tube on the base of the charger.  Pull out the spring, then reassemble.  The head won't pop up automatically anymore, but you'll be able to pop it up by hand--an easy tradeoff for a working clean and charge!

Charging claening unit

Here is the link to the user manual for your shaver if you need it; http://www.service.braun.com/line/SH/S5493/S5493_14_NA.pdf The release button on the back end of the shaver must activate a couple of small pins or levers that release the mechanism in the base unit to allow the shaver to be removed. If these pins or levers (sorry it isn't clear from the picture) are still moving in and out when you press the release button, the problem is in the base unit. Where these pins/levers would be if the shaver was in the base unit will be the latches that keep the shaver from coming out - it sounds as if one or both of these is broken or stuck - they are probably spring loaded, so a gentle poke with a small screwdriver or similar may free the latch. if they are not obviously broken or stuck, then the problem may be with the springs. this may well be easily fixable depending on how keen you are to take the unit apart yourself. Braun offer a two year warranty on this item, and even out of warranty their service is normally excellent - contact them on; http://www.braun.com/na/contact/servicepartners/americas.country.html?country=United States of America If you wish to try to fix it yourself and want some more help, please post again. Hope this helps :)
