Question about Philips 42PF9630A 42 in. Plasma Television
Our Philips Plasma 42" has just developed a 3" black stripe, right of centre. From the FixYa postings it does not sound good and it does appear to be a common problem.
What can be done?
Around the screen there are ribbons with driver chips on them, these ribbons generally have around 300 connections which are bonded to the glass, when the chips fail on the ribbon there's no drive on screen leaving a black bar. Usually the screen would be replaced by the manufacturer within the warranty period, I have the machine that can re-bond another ribbon which can work on around 80% of the screens and could save you money. You can email me on firstname.lastname@example.org if you need my address to bring your plasma over.
