I have recently got my old files transferred onto DVD-R disks to put onto my new computer. For some reason when I put one in, the drive just sits there and won't read the disk. If I try and click on the...

You have to have the software that backed up your files to disk installed on the computer, the same software has to restore the files. For example, Nero will not restore files created by Slysoft. Good Luck.

When i try to burn a video file onto a dvd disc it says at the end that theres not enough room on disk, i use nero ultra, and 4.7 gb 120 mins disks

The file must be bigger than 4.7gb!

Use Nero Vison to create a DVD video, it gives you the option to make it fit the discs you are using. It will do all the converting required to play the disc in a consumer DVD player.

Nero Vision provides step by step instructions on how to do it.

Compeutor asks for upgradefor nero 7 to suit windows vista

If the patents for ur earlier version for nero has expired, it will ask u to upgrade to nero 7 ( latest is nero version 8)..
If u dont do that certain appln will not work like NERO VISION ESSENTIALS OR NERO RECODE ESSENTAILS etc... but appln like nero express and nero burning ROM will work in all cases.

But if the patents have not xpired then i think it is just asking u to upgrade as there is a latest version is available on the net ... the it would be ur choice to upgrade or not ....
IF u upgrade , it will cost u as upgrade is not free ,....
U will have to provide ur credit card deatils

Dell 3000

Hey there 44mag, the solution may be that you need to use a different program to burn pictures. If you are using Nero, open up Nero Startsmart, and choose Nero Express, or Nero vision. The menu should appear giving you options as to which type of file you will be burning. On the left side, choose video/ pictures. Then on the right side choose the option which best suits your need. Read the description carefully and choose accordingly. Simply follow instructions and tips provided along the way. In Nero Vision, you can create your own slideshow on a DVD. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
