Question about Microsoft Windows 98 for PC

Need to add freecell back to my Windows 98 on an old system for my 85-yr-old Mom

Can't find original 98 disc, it is missing in action. Is there any way to buy a new Windows 98 disc and it work? I'm not a guru but I can put a disc in my system if this would work.

My windows xp pro games are gone

Do you meant the Microsoft Games (ie Freecell, Hearts,etc...) in XP?
You will need the XP CD to reinstall the Games if the Games had been removed.

Click Start -> Control Panel ->Add or Remove Programs(under catergory view)->Click Add/Remove Windows Components, this will bring up the "Windows Component Wizard", Check or tick - Accessories and Utilities (you can click on ->details to view the options your are installing)-> click next & follow the wizard to finish the installations.

Hope it helps.

Hi. Problem with windows 98. My computer went into safe mode, and the only way that I could get it back was to run the WINDOWS 98 disk that I had when it was new. I now find that I am not able to change...

You need to install a video driver for your video card. Do you know what video card is installed? Do you have the original install disks for the video card? For a machine that old, it may be hard to locate a driver.

I usually use Unknown Device Identifier (http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.html) to tell what drivers are missing, but I don't know if it works with Windows 98.

How to go back the original windows installed in pc?

You need the original CD-rom disc that came with the compueter when you bought it.
Then, with that inserted, reboot, enter the BIOS, set boot sequence to CD-Rom, restart again and follow the instructions on screen.

I deleted free cell game

Hello,

Windows XP

First insert the windows XP cd into the computer.

Next click Start --> Control Panel

Locate "Add or Remove Programs" and click on it. Once open on the left side click "Add/Remove Windows Components"

A new window will pop up. Click on "Accessories and Utilities" and click Details...

Make sure Games has a check mark beside it and press okay and then click next on the components wizard window.

There you go. Should have freecell back :)

Have a great Day!

New Hard Drive, system recovery problem

The systems disc is for the drivers and utilities, and, yes, there should have been two discs with the machine. The A45 is new enough that it should have come with an XP disc, not 98. I believe there was a mix up and you have the wrong disc. If you can get the operating system to load with the recovery disc you have, then you can get the drivers at the link below. Some two disc sets will not load an operational system unless you have both discs. Since you were running XP before, I don't think you're going to be happy with 98. I'm going to suggest that you purchase an XP disc, or contact Toshiba, and let them know that the wrong disc came with the machine, they might send you the right disc. If you do have to purchase an XP disc, simply load the system, then go to the link bellow and download the drivers. If you need any further assistance, feel free to ask.

The quick restore dosen`t work

What operating system you are using before installing windows xp. If it is windows 98, Your restore cd will restore windows 98. if you want to restore to factory settings pls boot from the restore cd and format the harddisk. Becareful, this will erase your entire data on the harddisk which cannot be recover. If you are using licenced (not pirated) windows xp boot from it and reinstall windows xp so that you can run the os smoothly. But in either case becarefull when you are formating, it will destroy entire data and you may endup in soup. feel free to revert back for further quiries
