D-Link´s print servers are IEEE1284 bi-directional compatible. This means that data can be sent and received in both directions between the printer and the D-Link print server. Toner status, paper level, and etc. will not be communicated back to the PC. In order to get printer status information, the proprietary printer driver has embedded code that needs to be passed on to the print server, decoded, then interpreted by the print server. Embedded driver codes are not supported by D-Link print servers. D-Link´s print servers, whether in Gateways or StandAlone, are plain TCP/IP print servers.

Why should I turn on enable bi directional printer properties dialog box

If you have a bi directional printer then you can increase the print speed by enabling it in the properties. Most older printers only print in one direction and the return to a home position to print again. Bi directional printers will print in both directions so there is not wasted movement of the print head.

You can use EPM(easy printer Manager) or smart panel. These files can down loaded from the samsung site. install and run in the PC it will show the status of the printer.
The red light blinks and printing is possible means get ready to replace the toner cart. with a new one.

Receive communication error when attempting to print to an Epson Stylus Pro 7600 via IOGear usb print server

Try disabling bi-directional support in the printer properties to see if that helps. This can be done by going to the Printer and Faxes window then right clicking on the printer icon and selection properties. The go to the ports tab and at the bottom of that windows there is a check box for bi-directional support. If the box is check try disabling this selection, apply the change and then try printing again.

Cannot print on shared printer

I had the same problem with HP 1018 printer, when I had two computers connected to a domain and had Windows XP SP3 on them and when I shared the printer on one of them - I could only print from the network if the user belonged to the Local Administrators group on the host/server computer. Once the network user is removed from Administrators - the print jobs are stuck in print queue. I used the "HP LaserJet Host Based Print Driver Package" that is on HP web site for HP laserjet 1018 printer.
Then I tried to use a different driver for that printer and was successful with driver for HP LaserJet 1020. After forcing that printer to use the 1020 drivers, the regular users were able to print to that printer.

Dell Laser MFP 1815 wont print

The printer status showing offline is more then likely a computer issue then the printer. On the printer, use the menu to select "reports" and then select the printer settings report. If the printer prints the report, then the printer itself is working, and it is a communication issue between the printer and the computer. If you are connecting to the printer with a usb cable, then try moving the usb cable on the computer to another port. If this does not work, try deleting and reinstalling the printer.

Installation wizard does not locate the WPSM54G

hello!

what is the model number of your printer? if your setup cd is not detecting your printserver, try the ff:

-- while pc and printserver connected to the router and your printserver connected to your printer. try to reset the printserver for 30sec. Is it printing? If yes, do you see any IP address on the print out

-- If no, unplug the power for 5 seconds and plug the power back in of the printserver then try again to run the setup cd. you may also check your routers dhcp server table if its detecting the printserver

-- if printserver still not detected ty to connect printserver directly to your computer

-- search if you have bi admin utility on your setup cd and install it on your pc

-- manually assign static ip address on the printserver using the bi admin utility and on the pc

-- if successful, connect printserver and pc back to the router and check if you can ping the ip address of your printserver
