Turn off the phone and pull the battery out. Put a small amount of alcohol on a cotton swab and gently try to clean the sim connectors. Put again your sim card e turn on your phone. After that, if the phone doesn't recognize the card, try with another simcard if possible.
Hello, There is still water inside the phone that's why some part are still working and some not working yet.
What to do is this,
Unscrew the phone, Get a Methylated spirit and a brush, Bring out the board of the phone and use the methylated spirit to brush off remaining water on phone. Keep under heat to dry off, After board is dried, fix it back and screw back phone.
Am sure after doing this phone will work well. But if phone still doesn't work ,that means water has damage some component inside the phone. You will need to consult a phone technician for assistance. Take care.
Have your simcard checked with an other phone to have it confirmed. Now open the phone to check the contact points of the sim.Wipe it with a dry cloth. If moisture present dry it softly using a heater. Now place the sim card correctly into the slot and switch on.If error comes up contact Nokia care for checking error code/software installation.
This could be one of a number of problems, and difficult to diagnose.
However, you should first try the simplest possible solution. That is - remove the SIM, clean it carefully by wiping with a dry cloth (or better a cloth slightly damp with pure alcohol e.g. surgical spirit) on the side with the metallic contacts, and replace it ensuring that it is seated properly.
try removing battery pack, un-clipping sim lockdown, removing sim and cleaning contacts with q-tip just damp with rubbing alcohol, also clean contacts in phone, where sim seats. let dry a few minutes- keep fingers off of contacts when you replace sim card! lock it down securely- probably hear a 'click'- replace battery- try using phone again- if this doesn't work- you may have a defective, or non-activated sim card. either way, contact nokia and tell them your problem. good luck!
Had a similar problem on my V170. Remove the battery and the sim card. Using a q-tip dampened (not dripping wet) with rubbing alcohol, clean the metallic side of the sim card and allow to air-dry, then wipe once more with a dry q-tip. Do the same for the metal terminals in the sim card slot if visible. Go ahead and clean the battery's contacts and the ones in the phone while you're there. Put it all back together and try again. This will fix most sim-card problems as long as there's no physical damage. Good Luck Jim
Clean your sim card with a dry cloth and your phone interiors with a blower/dryer. There might be some moisture. If it doesn't work, your sim is corrupt. Get a duplicate sim from Your sim card supplier i.e. your operator service.
Look at the gold contact points on the back of the SIM card. Check to see if there is any obstructions on them. If there is, take a slightly damp (not a lot of moisture!) paper towel and rub over it. Then dry it. Try putting it in your phone and see if it works. If it does, there you go.
If it doesn't, you might want to consider getting a new SIM card......
