Tech 57, thank you for your suggestion.  I spoke with a TV repair company in my area.  He said he would have to remove the back off the TV and replace the broken off connector.  He said it would take about 1 1/2 hours to do the work.  I haven't done anything because the set is too large for any one person to carry.  I was wondering if some sort of box could be attached to a different port that would have an available antenna connection.  Frog16

Connect a VCR or DVR, with a built in tuner, using the video and audio inputs. That would be the most reasonable solution, other that purchasing a separate tuner box, whic would be to costly.

You are going have to soldered a new coax connector into the tuner, which is not an easy thing to do. It would be a lot easier just to replace the tuner. Check with Andrews Electronics, and get someone knowlegeable in electronics to help you with the soldering.

How to program with cable using remote

Hello

1 Find and disconnect the cable that is connected to the

ANT IN terminal on your cable box.

? This terminal might be labeled "ANT IN", "VHF IN" or

simply, "IN".

2 Connect this cable to a two-way splitter.

3 Connect an Antenna cable between an OUT terminal on

the splitter and the IN terminal on the cable box.

4 Connect an Antenna cable between the ANT OUT terminal

on the cable box and the B-IN terminal on the RF(A/B)
switch.

5 Connect another cable between the other OUT terminal on

the splitter and the A-IN terminal on the RF (A/B) switch.

6 Connect the last Antenna cable between the OUT terminal

on the RF (A/B) switch and the ANT IN (AIR/CABLE)

terminal on the back of the TV.

After you have made this connection, set the A/B switch to the

"A" position for normal viewing. Set the A/B switch to the "B"

position to view scrambled channels. (When you set the A/B

switch to "B", you will need to tune your TV to the cable box's
output channel, which is usually channel 3 or 4.)

Cannot connect to cable tv

Yes, connect cable to Ant A and ensure the TV is on the input for Ant A.

Then go into the setup menu and ensure that the Input is set to Cable not Antenna.

Next, choose the auto program option to load your channels.

If you still don't get a picture and you have a small tv to bring to this outlet try this and make sure you are able to get a picture.

If you still can not get a picture then the outlet is not active and you need to call your service provider and ask them to activate the outlet for you.

Broken Antenna Port

If you have already identified where the connection was on the board you will have to access the board to be able to solder back to the points where the old connector was. Once you have identified the two solder points (One should go to ground and the other if you can with the tv on touch it and see if a picture tries to come in or get rid of the snow). Then buy a matching transformer from radio shack or Home Depot, Lowes. Normally this would go on the outside antenna. But you want to take it and clip and strip the ends that have the forks. Solder this to the board, one to ground and the other to the point that would have been center on the old broken piece. This will have a 72 ohm or a connection that your antenna will connect to.

VCR/DVD

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, it would appear that the only INPUT possible is through the RF connector. Should this be the case, a workaround would be to connect the RF OUT of a VCR to this RF/ANT/Cable IN of the TV, set the TV to Channel 3. An RG59 patch cable would do the job. Should you want to connect a DVD, connect the Video/Audio OUTPUT of the DVD to the Video/Audio INPUT of the VCR. Incidentally, the regular cable/ant should be connected to the RF IN of the VCR.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

It can be soldered back on. With that particular model, I don't know if the connector is connected to the tuner or if there is a litte square anteena box which then feed a cable to the tuner.

Tv/vdr/cable box

Your hookup is correct- Your VCR needs to be tuned to channel 3 or 4, to match the cable box.

Also, the VCR channel output needs to be matched to the TV. If VCR menu options are displayed on the TV then this part is right. If not, then set either the VCR or TV to the correct channel.

Using a VCR with it.

Hi, Based on your post/description, a common installation/connection would be: 1. Ant/Cable in to the RF INput of the VCR (this is assuming that your cable TV is cable/F output and not the audio/video RCA output); 2. A short RG59 cable with F connectors at both ends should connect RF OUT of VCR to ANT/CABLE IN of TV. 3. With the VCR off, the cable would connect automatically to the TV and channel selection is thru your TV. 4. With the VCR on, The TV must be set to either 3 or 4, channel selection may be done on the VCR, TV programs can be recorded, video tapes can be played. A variation: Another would be to use the Audio/Video OUTput of the VCR to the Audio/Video INput of the TV (assuming it's got one). The TV must be set to Video to watch cable, VCR. Channel selection would be thru the VCR. Hope this be of some idea/help. Post back should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
