I have an Acer Aspire One D260 and am having some trouble with the mousepad. I can move using the touchpad but cannot click anything by tapping or double tapping. Also the left mouse click is not working but the right click seems to be working fine. Could this just be a driver issue? Appears to be more hardware based as it doesn't do it all the time. Most grateful for any help. Thanks

The mouse won't move

If it's the touchpad mouse - you may have disabled it by accident. For Acers, try hitting the Fn key and F7 at the same time.
If that doesn't work, you may need to connect a usb mouse and re-enable the touchpad. That should be in Control Panel -> Mouse -> Hardware.

Tapping on gateway nv 53 trackpad not working

This just happened on my HP2730P. I always used the click on the touchpad, plus used the right click button at the bottom. Yesterday it just decided to stop working and went haywier...it started doing the selecting and dragging while I was moving the mouse around and my left click stopped working. Obviously my enable tap click was already on cuz I used it all the time.

My solution was disabling the buttons under the "buttons" tab. Then my mousepad tap started working again, I regained function in the scrollbar on the mousepad again, and if I need to right click I can use the point stick buttons right above the pad.

OR

Does it start working when you reboot? If so, try changing the "Touchpad Sensitivity" option :)

Mousepad not working

Hello,

Each Touchbad should have basic functionality by default in every Operating system, letting it be used even when no driver is installed. However, try pressing FN and F7 together and see if the touchpad works again. Some people accidently press this FN + F7 key when they mute the sound with the FN + F8 key.

The FN + F7 is there to disable/enable the touchpad as some people use a USB mouse instead of the touchpad.

If you still need the drivers, here are the download links. Please choose desired driver by Operating system and Touchpad brand...

The pouse pad on my computer is not working

Try installing / reinstalling your touch-pad drivers.

Go to this site, Choose your laptop make & model ("Notebook" ==> "Aspire" ==> "Aspire 5500")

Once done, select your windows from the "Operating System" drop-down menu. Then download the Synaptics Touchpad driver in the scroll-box at the bottom.

Run the installation and restart your PC.

Hope this helps,

I have a Acer Aspire One, and the when I try to click any link with just tapping my finger on the mouse pad nothing happens...I can move the mouse around but not click anything..

Go to control panel > mouse > on the upper tab, there should be a tab for device settings. Open that up and it should list your touchpad, highlight it and click on the settings button. In there enable "tapping" on the touchpad. Click apply and ok. If the touchpad does not show up under device settings or there is no device settings tab, then the driver for the touchpad is missing or corrupt. In the control panel, go to device manager and scroll down to mice and pointing devices, if the touchpad is listed there, right click on it and click Un-install, but keep the driver if there is one. Reboot the machine and windows will be forced to reinstall and update the driver. Let windows search for a new driver if it wants to. You should be back in shape.

My mousepad won't work on my Aspire laptop. Ok, the mouse pad works (the pointer will move around), the physical button right click works (not double clicking), but any click on the mousepad and the left...

Check for dirt under the keys. See if you can blow under key and turn the laptop on it's side while you're doing it so anything under it can fall away.

normally the Fn and F7 key, it's the key with a finger on a square icon, or right click on the touchpad icon in taskbar>pointing device properties and select device settings and then dissable.
