Why does it take so long to connect to bell south internet?
Once I finaly get connected, the speed is fine

Sounds like a dial out problem. Talk with your local telphone service and try getting a service call to check your line.

If you're connecting the device you're watching netflix with wirelessly, check the strength of the signal your device is getting from the router, netflix needs a strong connection and the download speed you'll need for it is 1.5mbps or greater. If both your signal and download speed are fine try unplugging your Netgear and your Zoom from the power for about 5 min. to refresh your connection

HOW TO SET UP SPEED TOUCH 5X6V6 BROADBAND MODEM


Once you have an Internet Service Provider ,ISP,
you just need a modem and phone line access,
plug modem into phone socket and then into the computer,

My example modem is.........

Speed Touch 5x6v6 - Broadband Modem
Operating System is Windows 7

log on to the modem using Internet Explorer Bar
Type 192.168.254
this will open the modems log on menu
then enter user name and password
its factory default is
user ADMIN
password ADMIN or 1234

once open there are some menu options on the main page

Speed Touch,
Broadband Connection,
Toolbox,
Home Network,

to add new user and password,
go to toolbox,
user management,
add new user
add password,(write down username and password)
change default user
save and test
should have a green tick next to new default user now

selecting broadband ... shows both your,
dsl connection and internet connection status,
with a green tick next to each heading.

Home network will show you...
all devices connected to this modems network ie
the other computers and printers etc,
connected on your network.
In network ,select your computer in the menu tree,
select configure
this give you a menu to add info about your computer
ie name info, comupters ip address,
access to the local intranet or the internet

Now lets connect to the internet

select Broadband from front page
menu will open and display
DSL & Internet Connections
here we test internet functionality.on? or off?

Now we go to your computer,
go to start
my network connections
run wizard in my network places
select new connection
follow prompts to the end.

open internet explorer
if web page opens then we are done and finished,
or
open tools and internet options,
connections and then lan settings
select automatically detect
Apply then close
Test webpage again,
when ok shut down and restart,
to save the computers new settings ,
Test again with internet explorrer.

if no connections run wizard again,

Ive been having problems with my internet connection i have called my ISP and they've sent people to my house to fix it but every time my internet connection has gotten worse my modem is RCA model:DCM425...


Cable internet is a bit trickier to troubleshoot because it uses coaxial/optical infrastructure from your ISP to your home. Also, depending on the fine print of your contract, you may be stuck with them. Usually ISPs have a clause that they'll deliver UP TO 15mbps but they dont guarantee that you'll get that speed. Your browsing speed depends on the quality of cabling, distance from their main facility, distance from the closest optical link, distance from the closest amplifier, and amount of connections drawing connection from that same amplifier.
I'd also suggest that you run pingtest.net and see the quality of your connection when the internet feels fast, and when you think it's slow. Raw speed is not the decisive measurement. It's mostly a marketing trick. Usually, what matters is the ping rate and jitter. In other words, how fast two computers can communicate both ways without losing the integrity of the connection (ping) and what is the amount of noise (jitter).

Cannot receive phone calls on a dsl setup


There must be DSL Spliter inbetween telephone line & Wi-fi modem. Please check whether you have connected telephone instrument line with that Spliter or not. According to me, Telephone instrument should connect to telephone line option on DSL Splitter to use same telephone line as internet as well Telephone.

Sounds it is your modem. I had a similar issue with my old one. I had a westell 6100F and now have a 6100G that helped. My company had to replace about 150 of line about 1000 Ft away from my house. The cable was in a storm drain and it was getting wet and interupting my internat connection.

hmmm...only thing that makes sense here is that your dSL is unhappy...did you check that phone line into the modem? that's what the internet light means when it's out, actually..if its not the line, then it's the modem..

not much else that is off on this.

don't worry, there is a major fault in the cable , cable in the mediterranean is damaged and the international gateway is not opening, it will take few more days to set it right, then speed will be fine

2wire modem not broadcasting wireless signal


are the lights on the modem detecting any connection? is your line still programmed for broadband? if your modem is connected at the phone exchange and the connection is at your house and all and none of your computers can connect to the net, not even the primary computer and you have called your technical team for broadband (can be company policy sometimes to call them) you may need a replacement modem. Tech support should do a ping and other tech things to try to get you connected. you may have a faulty modem which if it is new then you should be entitled to a warranty replacement. if it is a simple setting on your computer they should be able to resolve this, i know that when vista first came out there were a lot of support issues with bband providers being able to support the users.
