Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

I just purchased a DC07 Dyson vacuum cleaner. It is not vacumming my floor - I have hardly any suction at all. Do I need to activate something in order to initiate the suction?

With vac upright suction is sent to the hose ie top of vac handle when handle is tilted down to the user vacuum position it should send the power suction to the floor also make sure collection bin it in securely that make be the problem

Cleaner not picking up

Hi Barbara, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear the brush bar in your machine isn't rotating. Please make sure that the brush control on the cleaner head is set to 'Carpets' rather than 'Hard floors', as the brush bar will not rotate when the machine is set to the Hard floors position.

Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so make sure it's reclined into the normal vacuuming position before testing it. You might find our online Support guide useful when troubleshooting:

Floor suction not working but pipe fine

Hi Ann,

I'm sorry to hear this - your DC07 has suction through the wand, but not from the cleaner head, it sounds as if there may be a blockage in the cleaner head. The easiest way to check for this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=4&product=DC07-SY

This should resolve your issue, but if you'd like further assistance, give us a call free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US) so we can help.

Kind regards,

Jack

My manual says it is DC07, but it is pink and silver in colour. I have 2 problems, firstly the brush has stopped spinning, but belt appears intact. Secondly there are tiny holes in suction pipe near...

Hi there,
The DC07 came out in a few different variations so the colour only indicates that yours has a hepa filter. The first problem can be caused by a few different things
1. the brush roller bearings are worn or siexed.
2. The clutch to motor belt is brocken or off the drive shaft (this model has 2 belts but only one is visible without pulling the head apart.
3. The machine is set to hard floors (check the dial on the front)
4. The clutch is faulty.
I have made a video called
How do I check the clutch or brush roller of my Dyson DC07?. (video)
Folllow the link to my website and choose that video, it will show you how to fix all these problems. The same video will show you how to replace the internal tube as well.
If you need to purchase any parts for your dyson check out nelson vacuums or vacuumspot.
Finally if this is a helpful answer please rate it or better still leave a testimonial.

Deodorizing the vacuum

First of all Clean out the vacum cleaner . Empty canister and take filter outside and hit on something to get all dust out . Now wash canister and filter with vinegar water and let dry before using vacum again. You might try using carpet fresh for pet odors on carpet and empty and clean canister and filter regularly. I own a cleaning business and this is a hard problem to solve with all vac. cleaners. Good Luck!!

No suction when vacuming floors

Hi.

There are 2 types of Dc07 one is clutched & has two belts the second has only one belt going from motor to brush roller.

Lay machine on its side pull back handle as if you are to vac carpet switch machine on look to see if brush roller is spinning.

If it is not spinning unplug machine from mains supply & remove the sole plate by turning the three plastic screws to unlock position, Lift sole plate away if you have non clutched machine you will now see the brush roller with A belt going from this to the motor shaft belt may have snapped or come off so replace it.

If your Dyson has A clutch unit this engages the brush roller when you pull the handle back to vacuum.

Check the clutch control knob which is at the bottom left side of machine looking from the front.
It should rotate to drive position when handle is pulled back.

If it doesnt turn the knob by hand to drive.

If you still have no brush rotation after doing all this then either the clutch is faulty or the second belt which goes clutch to motor has snapped & will need replacing.

There are service manuals available for these repairs at this site
