Question about Washing Machines
I see where the bearing connects to the pulley and it looks like a washer has been spun out. Before it quit spinning there was a metal on metal noise for a few washes and it finally quit spinning. Is it the pulley, washer, or bearing that I would need to replace?

SOURCE: load noise in final spin cycle
turn the tub on the inside if it feels ruff as it turns and makes a noise then most likely you have a bad rear bearing, if it is smooth in turning and no noise then turn to drain or spin possibly something stuck in drain pump. the drain pump will start up first if you hear the noise then the drain pump is accessed from the front lower cover, if its the rear bearing probably not worth fixing about 400.00 in parts and alot of work.

SOURCE: FRIGIDAIRE FRONT LOAD WASHER
I too had the same problem, I closed the soap tray and a magnet popped out and got stuck to the door. Same problem with it acting like it was going to start and then beeped. This is where the magnet goes, just stick it back in, its held in with pressure (barely) :)
I took the whole control panel off to locate the magnetic reed switch, then just reverse engineered where the magnet is supposed to go on the soap drawer.

if the noise is really loud in the final spin your bearing are starting to go out your washer needs to be rebuilt but it will be cheaper to go buy a new one
