Step 1 Access the web-based configuration by entering the IP address of your router in your web browser. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. Enter your username (admin) and your password (blank by default). Step 2 Click the Tools tab and then click the Misc. button on the left side. How do you dis-able gaming mode feature?

Log into your router.
-> Open the "Tools" tab -> Click on the "Misc." button on the left size.
You will see the opion to disable the "Gaming Mode" the 5th one down. The color is a bit faded blue but you can see it just under "UPNP Settings".
-> Mark it on "Disabled" then hit "Apply" at the buttom of the page.
I usually recomment "Reboot" after you clicked "Apply". (Button at the top of the same page you are on).
Good luck.

I built a gaming rig about a day or so ago, I bought a DWA-552 Extreme N Desktop Adapter PCI-E by D-Link. I installed it and ran the software it came with. I immediately connected to my network. But soon...

If disabling and enabling the adapter fixes the problem(temporarily)  then you know the problem is either with the adapter or the drivers, try going to the D-Link website and downloading the newest drivers for that adapter, if that doesn't work contact D-Link for support.

Hi? I have a connection problem with two web sites while using my D-Link WBR-1310 router. These web sites are poker stars .com and hulu .com On poker stars .com I?m always losing my connection On hulu .com...

Try port forwarding. In your router open the port pokerstars runs on, then go back in the router and close it when done if you dont want to have a constantly open port on your PC. The buffering problem can be solved in your player. Go to setting or options (depending on which player you use) and increase the buffer size. If viewing media in a web browser, IE or Firefox, right click on the movie and a setting window should come up. Might be able to increase buffer size there. Also try putting the PC in "standby" mode instead of turning if off completely. This may retain your connection settings for the next time you get on hulu or poker stars.Make sure your firewall (in the router and on the PC) isn't kicking you offline too.

a site that requires you shut down protection,
has some intent of using that lack of protection.
usually its something nasty

online gaming should not require more than the opening of the NAT in the router to the address of the game host.
check the settings of the router many have prewritten rules for the major game hosts, that just need to have the checkbox marked.
I have 3 sons with different online gaming and have not had to disable the firewall

using the routers built in menu, cant tell you the address beyound 192.168.0.* because no details on router model, you can enable gaming mode, and leave the firewall intact.
goto the manufacturer(router) webpage and check the FAQ for your router

Wireless router

My suggestion would be to first disable any encryption on the router to make your wireless network simple first to try and troubleshoot these problems. check if any MAC or IP Address filters are active on the wireless router, you can either enter the IP address of the slingbox wireless adapter or its MAC address if you HAVE enable filtering, but again, try diagnosing without filtering or encryption enabled. Also ensure your slingbox wireless adapter has its settings set to 'automatically assign IP address (enable DHCP)' so it gets its address automatically.

What is Gaming Mode on my D-Link router?

Gaming Mode allows a form of pass-through for certain Internet games. If you are using XBOX, Playstation2, or a PC and have problems with your Internet games, make sure you are using the latest version of the firmware and that Gaming Mode is enabled. If you are not using an application that requires this type of pass-through, it is recommended that you disable Gaming Mode. Gaming Mode basically changes the way the gateway inspects the packets destined for your LAN and should be not used unless necessary.
