How do i unlock my d link

The first thing you should do upon completing a wireless connection with a D-Link router is to set up wireless security by accessing the router settings. This protects you against computer hackers trying to gain access to your bandwidth to commit fraud against you or others. It also restricts access away from those who live around you that would rather use your bandwidth instead of paying for their own. Unauthorized users can drastically slow your network speed.

1.Enter the IP address for the D-Link router into a web browser. The default address is This address is typically located underneath the router. Load the page to access the login details.

2.Enter the login details. Refer to your records if necessary. The user name is usually "admin." Enter in your password. A blank password is the default. Load the page to access the router settings. Note: It's important to set a password, if you haven't already done so.

3.Click on the "Set Up" hyperlink and then click on the "Wireless Settings" hyperlink.

4.Scroll down until you see "Wireless Security Mode" and select your desired level of security from the drop-down. The type of security you select depends on the electronic equipment you want to connect to your network and the level of security you want to enable. See Resources for details on the different types of security available. If you are still unsure, WEP offers a decent level of security and works with almost all Wi-Fi enabled components like mobile phones, gaming equipment and laptops.

5.Enter in your desired password into the "Password" field and then enter in the password a second time in the "Re-Enter Password" field. Select "Save Setting" to enable wireless security on your D-Link Router.

How do you dis-able gaming mode feature?

Log into your router.
-> Open the "Tools" tab -> Click on the "Misc." button on the left size.
You will see the opion to disable the "Gaming Mode" the 5th one down. The color is a bit faded blue but you can see it just under "UPNP Settings".
-> Mark it on "Disabled" then hit "Apply" at the buttom of the page.
I usually recomment "Reboot" after you clicked "Apply". (Button at the top of the same page you are on).
Good luck.

I have a Belkin Wireless

Network mode is in the wireless settings menu, so it only affects the wireless network. Besides if your pc is wired and you can still reach the internet then anything else that is wired will be good to go.

p.s. 'Network mode' may be named differently on your router. When you enter wireless settings the option to disable or enable wireless broadcasts should be on the first page, usually at the top. There is usually a 'help' link on each page on the web utility that explains in more detail what each setting does.

Wireless router dropping then disappeared

If other wireless hosts are connecting to the wireless router with no problem, and the windows laptop intermittently connects, then this seems to indicate a problem with the wireless card in your windows laptop. If the device is still under warranty, it should not be a problem to contact the laptop vendor and have it replaced.

What is Gaming Mode on my D-Link router?

Gaming Mode allows a form of pass-through for certain Internet games. If you are using XBOX, Playstation2, or a PC and have problems with your Internet games, make sure you are using the latest version of the firmware and that Gaming Mode is enabled. If you are not using an application that requires this type of pass-through, it is recommended that you disable Gaming Mode. Gaming Mode basically changes the way the gateway inspects the packets destined for your LAN and should be not used unless necessary.
