Changing password to my router

Hello you have not entered the routers name.

Basicly it`s just to visit the routers homepage for downloading a user manual.

Here is some homepages that tells how:

You will probably have to hold the reset button from 10 to 30 seconds depending on your brand of router. If you hold it for too short a time it will simply reset the router but won't revert back to its factory default settings. On some routers you may have to use a pin or thumbtack to press the button if it is recessed inside the router.

2. Connect a computer to one of your router's Ethernet ports (but not the one that says WAN)
Most router's have a web browser-accessible administrator page that you must log in to in order to access the router's configuration settings. Some routers disable administration via wireless, so you will need to ensure that you are connected to the router via an Ethernet cable before attempting to access the router's configuration page.

3. In the browser address bar, enter the IP address of your router's administration interface
Most routers have what is called a non-routable internal IP address such as or This is an internal address that cannot be accessed from the internet.
Here are the standard admin interface addresses used by some of the more popular wireless router manufactures. You may have to consult your specific router's manual for the correct address. The following list is some of the default IP addresses based on my research and may not be accurate for your specific make or model:
Linksys - or
DLink - or
Apple -
Buffalo -
Netgear - or
4. Enter the default administrator login name (usually "admin") followed by the default administrator password.
You can locate the the default admin name and password for your specific router by checking the manufacturer's website or by Googling "Default Admin Password" followed by your router's brand name and model.
5. Click on the "Admin" page from your router's configuration page and create a strong password

Be sure you enter a strong complex password for your router's admin password. If you ever looe this password you will have to repeat the steps above.
If you didn't lose you router password but just don't know how to change it, you can skip steps 1 and 2 and enter the admin user name and password that you have into step 4. This will allow you to change your wireless router's password without wiping out all your other router's settings.

Good luck

How do I change my wireless password

You can do this easily as long as you have access to the Internet.
1.First connect your Ethernet cables. One cable should run from your router to your modem and the second should run from the router to your PC.
2.Access your wireless router's administrator page. The URL to access this page will vary depending on the brand of your router. See your router's user manual for the proper URL to access the administrator's page.
3.Enter your username and password. If you have yet to set your username and password, consult your user manual. Many times, the username and password are "Admin" for the username and "Password" for the password.
4.Open the wireless security section of the administration page.
5.Change and confirm a password to place on your router. Sometimes the software will generate a random mix of letters and numbers. This is the encryption, and you should be sure to write these numbers.

I could access the router log in page and then go to the status page but I cannot go to the advanced setup page. I would like to know the setup page address that should be like...

For user access enter the default user password user to view the status only. The
following window will appear.

Administrator Access

1 For administrator access enter the default admin password 1234 to configure the wizards
and the advanced features.
2 Click Login to proceed to a screen asking you to change your password or click Cancel
to revert to the default password.
3 If you entered the admin password, it is highly recommended you change the default
admin password! Enter a new password between 1 and 30 characters, retype it to
confirm and click Apply. Alternatively click Ignore to proceed to the main menu if you
do not want to change the password now.

This router has a user password to see the status and an administrator password to change settings. Please mark this as solved if this solves your problem. If not feel free to ask more questions :).

I want to change password for wifi network

Open up an Internet browser window on your computer system. To gain access to the default settings, type in the default IP address of the wireless router in your Internet browser's address bar and press enter. You must refer to the wireless router's documentation or navigate to the manufacturer's website for the correct IP address.

Type the default user name and password in the security dialog box that appears, then press Enter on your keyboard. Because different router manufacturers use different default user names and passwords, refer back to your router's documentation or support webpage for the correct information.

Navigate through the router administration pages to find the wireless router's administrator password settings. Change the default user name and password to a unique set so that possible unauthorized access to your router settings will not take place. Make sure to hit "Save Settings" to complete the change.

Set up your wireless security settings by navigating to the proper administration settings page. By default, wireless routers do not come with a password for connectivity access. Choose the appropriate wireless security level you need and type in a unique user name and password. Save these new settings and log out of the router's administration setup.

Write down the user names and passwords for both network access and the administration setup page. Keep these user names and passwords in a safe place.

Have a great day.

When i set up the router i gave a password but

If you want to change the password to access the router you can open your browser and put in the address (unless you changed it) and press enter. You should be prompted for a user name and password. Leave the user name section blank and put in the password for the router. Once you have logged into the router successfully, you will see the Administration tab. Click on it and you will be able to change the router password. Save the changed and close the browser window when you are finished.
If you need to change the Wireless Internet password, you can click on the Wireless tab, go to Wireless security and change the passphrase there too.
I hope this helped. Thanks for using!!

Generally it is When it asks for your user name and password, you will need to input administrator and the administrator password or admin and the admin password. Then you should be able to get into your router and change the security settings.
