If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem. If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured. You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com
id check the blue screen control first its at the bottom of the set you will have to take the front panel off and behind it is another small black panel remove that one and to select any function those controls need to be attached so slide that front panel to the left there and take you remote put the tv on video input and there are sic controls on this little black screen control block look for the screen controls and turn the blue one just slightly clockwise and you will see the blue screen will light up and you will have little arched lines turn the control back slowly till the lines disaper and the screen goes black
and then cycle the set off give it five mins or so and restart it and see if every thing returns and your video is being displayed then switch it back to your input and view and reassemble
The other stuff is probably the Engine as well. Before going any further, have them replace it again and see if the other problems show up. I am willing to bet they wont. These Engines are mostly refurbished units and if they originally had intermittent problems on the Digital Board that comes mounted on the Engine it would get passed on to you.
I would not wait before having it replaced and I would Call LG first to let them know you got a dud replacement Engine. Let me know how it comes out.
it sounds like the DM or FMT board is locking up.these parts are no longer available from Mitsubishi.
email me your phone number and i will give you a call and we can determine the best course of action. firstname.lastname@example.org
NOT GOOD NEWS... IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR BLUE CRT IS SHORTED. THE ORIGINAL PART IS N.L.A.(NO LONGER AVAILABLE) THEY DO MAKE A GENERIC REPLACEMENT, BUT I DON'T THINK THEY ARE AS GOOD AS O.E.M. YOU CAN TAKE OFF FRONT OF T.V. AND ADJUST THE SCREEN DOWN ON THE FOCUS BLOCK. IT IS THE BLACK BOX WITH 6 ADJ. ON IT 3 ARE FOCUS. 3 ARE SCREEN . TURN THE BLUE ALL THE WAY DOWN , THEN WITH THE BACK OF A PLASTIC OR RUBBER SCREWDRIVER HANDEL YOU CAN TAP ON THE NECK OF THE CRT, NOT TO HARD. SOME TIMES YOU CAN CLEAR THE SHORT OUT OF THE CTR. IF THIS WORKS LET THE SET WARM UP FOR 10-20 MIN. THEN TURN THE COLOR ALL THE WAR OFF, THEN SET THE BLUE LEVER UNTIL YOU HAVE A GOOD BLACK AND WHITE PICTURE. BE CAREFUL NOT TO TURN IT UP YOU CAN DAMAGE THE CTR IF THE LEVEL IS TO HIGH. ERROR 8 IS A.K.B. ERROR THAT MEANS THE CRT'S ARE DRAWING TO MUCH CURRENT. DON...
