Boot into Safe Mode and see if it will allow you to run a System Restore.
To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.
If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.
In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.
In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command. If the check disk utility can't fix the problem you'll need to reinstall windows.
I have an Emerson 2gb MP3 player model EMP 312-2, not sure if this info is for you or not. Make sure you are in the MUSIC MODE, when you use the menu button to go from music mode, voice mode, settings etc. you must push menu button again when the mode you want is hi-lited. I had a similar problem. Files were loaded (my music is on my harddrive already so I just copy to mp3 player) but when I turned player on it said no files. AHA, I finally realized I had somehow got into the voice mode and I did not have any voice files, so it said no files. I then went to Folder Mode and it only said micin.dir and it was empty, THAT WAS BECAUSE I WAS IN VOICE MODE, when I switched to music mode, they were all there. I know this sounds very rudimentary, but I am pretty computer literate and had no idea how I switched to voice mode. Before I figured this out for myself I called Emerson customer service, they said it was bad firmware and send it back. If someone there had walked me through what I just told you it would have saved me a lot of time. Hope this helps.
The voice command hotkey is the "Home" key. To start using voice commands, press and hold the Home key until you hear a beep. Say "Help" and you should get a list of available commands and how to use them.
HI Con613, Voice command is one of the feature of the mobile. It is important and if u understand it, it is very easy and useful to us. Voice command is used to perform some sort of function (such as to open apps, camera, voice recorder, etc. and to call peoples) by giving voice command. For it u need to go to voice command in tools in menu, then a list of apps appears. In it, u choose 1 apps, then it gives command to record voice. Record any voice of urs as command for it. When in standby mode or desktop, hold right soft key until voice command appears. Then give the same voice as recorded before to open the choosen apps. Same process is to be applied for the apps. For dialling people from voice command, u need to go to the person's contact. Go to options of it and add a voice as command for it. And same process is to be applied as to open the apps. thank you =============================================== It is for mobile users. If it is helpful for u, u can feedback me. And i will help u later in other problems. SAJAN
Do this procedure for "voice" mode to delete voice recordings:
Delete file (stop submenu) - Delete corresponding files and save files in Music mode, Voice mode or FM mode.
1. In stop interface (FM without stop interface)
2. Short press "MODE" to enter stop submenu
3. Click "NEXT" or "PREV" to choose "single" or "all" files
4. Short press "MODE" to enter the Delete interface
5. Click "NEXT" to change "no" into "yes"
6. Short press MODE to confirm the delete prompt
"Delete all" will delete all related files stored in the selected folder. For example, if in music mode "Delete all" will delete all the music files, while other recorded files (e.g. voice recordings or FM recordings) will not be deleted.
Likewise, if "Delete all" is used when in the "Replay" menu, this will delete all recorded files but leave music files intact.
FM is much simpler – "Delete" or "Delete all" will delete the station(s) saved before.
