Sanyo DP32648 I have sound and backlight but no picture. Is this most likely the Main video board or could it still be the power supply? I tried sending signal from computer at all resolutions to no avail.

Hi,
I should say, it's either the inverter cable needs to be re-seated/replaced or the LCD screen needs replacement.

Could be the power supply, it could be the main board. My advice regarding home television repair, unless our Television Expert Larry comes along.

My sanyo tv model number dp32648 turns on but then the picture turns off still have sound

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Sound but faint picture

Hi Neil,
It a case of backlight failure. Most probably the inverter board has gone bad.
Good Luck.

Dp32648 picture goes black, tv stays on with sound.

Dim the lights in the room, turn on the set and shine a bright flashlight on the screen. Do you see a faint picture? If you see a faint picture, you have a backlight fault. Could be several things, you could have a bad backlamp, defective inverter, defective 24vdc power supply, or a faulty main board. I would highly recommend you get a diagnosis

Sound works great, has no picture

Did you look at power supply board for any puffed up caps on the power supply board?

TV powers on but there is no picture

0ne of 3 has failed:
(in order of probability):

1. Backlight inverter
2. Power Supply
3. Backlight

Please seek the expertise of an experienced TV repair technician - as they contain potentially lethal voltages that must be properly discharged before work can begin.

Thanks!

Have sound but no picture screen is black

Hi memom440,
Power on the unit in the dark room then shine with the flashlight directly in the screen, you will barely see the images. This is because your backlight is not functioning. The following reason is the caused.
1. Power supply - missing B+(supply voltage) coming from this board feeding the inverter board. This is caused by faulty transistor, dried/leaky electrolytic capacitor, open fusible resistor.
2. Inverter board - even the B+ is good from the power supply, if the fuse, driver transistor, driver transformer is faulty no output to the backlight resulting to black picture.
3. Busted backlight - even inverter board is good but if this is busted resulting to black picture also.
Diagnosing the fault is technical and if you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't fix it yourself, I would advice you to look for an experienced technician to isolate the problem.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

My Sanyo DP32648 was plugged into a surge suppressor and during a lightning storm the TV turned off. The DVD player, stereo and the clock are all working fine, and were still plugged into the same surge...

If you look at the power supply board as shown in the picture: http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/s/j/sjdps153ap1a.jpg

There is a main fuse on the top left of the board covered by black shrink tubing, SLO-BLO 4A 250V. Check it out to see if it is blown.
