This sounds like a Blend Door problem. The problem is that the blend door in the plenum is stuck in the A/C position and will not reposition to allow heat.
There are two possible issues.

1: The Acuator has snapped off (plastic breaks)

2: The Blend Door is broken (plastic hinge broke)

There are related articles to fix both of these conditions

My dad has a portable Whirlpool ac unit. for the last couple of days it stops running and needs to have water emptied. Can I fix this for him?

you would need to drill the pan ad install a drain hose on or around the bottom of the water tank, you will need a place for that water to drain to, there is auto drain pumps that are used on under cabinet ice machines also, but $$$ .. hope i was of help.. jay

My water heater won't circulate water. i think it is clogged with calcium

One thing you might try is to shut off power or turn gas valve to pilot,as you didn't say if it was gas or electric. Hook up garden hose to drain valve and run hose to floor drain or sump basin. Shut off water supply valve to heater. Open drain valve and if you get a decent flow then let it drain tank about half way. If flow rate drops drastically then open hot side on faucet nearby to break vacumn. When you think tank is about halfway drained then shut off faucet if you opened one and close drain valve. Turn water supply valve back on and let tank refill. When it is full leave supply valve on and open drain valve and let water flush thru system for several mins. Close drain valve and run water on both hot and cold side of faucets fartherest away from heater as possible. Close this faucet
Turn tharmostat up as high as it will go and let heater run till it shuts off then return thermostat to original setting. Go through the drain and flush procedure a couple more times and this shold help break mineral deposits loose and flush them out. This should make for more efficeint operation and help prolong the tank life. Hope this helps you. Have a good new year and thank you.

Intertherm ac with heater for clayton mobile homes. water is leaking on floor from ac unit in house. the outside drain is dripping good so it does not appear to be a clogged drain.

Sounds like you may have freezing coil. Clean your filters and the inside of your coils. Also blow out the drain (just in case). Many people pour a cup of bleach in the drain pain once a month to keep the slime from growing.

My whirlpool thru the wall air and hear conditioner is not draining the water outside the humidity has just risen yesterday in Florida what is the problem? Sheryl

Check to see if drain holes or line is plugged.
Try re-leveling your AC.
A lot of time you can get build up from dirt and water deposits. And will need to clean unit.

Water not draining out the back

Humidity is where the water comes from. If humidity is low, very little if any, water.

We purchased a Whirlpool portable air conditioner in 2005 from Best Buy. Near the end of last summer the air conditioner started leaking water. We started using it again this season and it is still...

Check to see if the drain is blocked by particles/debris of any type. Also make sure that the unit is level--as level as possible. I have my Whirlpool Portable AC in 4 inch bed risers so I can drain it really easily. I slip under a small low rise pan and drain it every two days or so when it is running. Mine leaked when I tried to incline it backwards to make it drain faster. As soon as I leveled the unit the leak stopped and water again came out the hose. These units must be kept level to prevent leaks so now I always do that.
