Re: What is WDS?

Wireless Distribution System (WDS) allows you to make a completely wireless infrastructure. Normally, the access points must be connected with a wire (LAN). These access points create cells allowing a wireless connection. The WDS feature allows the access points to be wirelessly connected. This feature is normally used in large, open areas where pulling a wire is restricted or not cost effective and in residential circumstances. If the structure utilizing an access point is too large to cover using one AP, a second AP would be used as a wireless repeater. The WDS has forwarding functionality for extending the range of an AP. By setting up an extended service set (ESS) between access points. Stations can intersect with any AP of this ESS and move between the coverage of both APs while the higher layer network connection remains intact.

Where is wds bridging in belkin f7d2301

There is no Wireless Distribution System (WDS) on this Belkin product as it is a SWITCH, not a router.

You would have to buy a router, connect it to a broadband service and put this switch on the LAN side to get Internet access or connect up to a Wireless device.

No, sadly it doesn't support WDS (Wireless Distribution System), most of the time I prefer Linksys routers since are easy to configure and WDS capable, if you get two of them I'm sure you can establish a WDS network easily.

i dont believe you can do such thing but you could run two routers and log onto each individually. Just like your at home using the laptop and you go to a friends 20 miles away and you take your laptop and it will recognize his wireless allowing access.

How to connect thomson 185wireless repeater to ettisalat access point
This article covers connecting the Thomson wireless repeater to any AP. Since these wireless devices are not made by the same manufacturer, I suggest you not use the WDS procedure - in many cases you can only use WDS reliably between devices that have the same manufacturer or are programmed by the same people.

I have a THOMSON ST585v6sl with AOL running off

Well it may be possible, only if your wireless router supports WDS. Also, note that in DG834Gv3 , v4, v5 supports WDS. If you have v2 or v1 then it wont connet wirelss with your existing network.

Please reply if your existing wireless router has WDS and the version of the NETGEAR router so that I will provide you with the required steps to make it work wireless.
