Yes, both Playstation 2 Online and Xbox Live have been tested and are known to work with both game consoles online. Do make sure that you are using the latest version of the routers firmware. To get the latest version go to and click on Firmware. Make sure you download both the firmware and the instructions on how to update the router. If you are already running the latest version then you do not need to perform another upgrade. To check to see if you have the latest firmware version open a web browser and type into the address bar. Log into the router as instructed in the user manual. Once logged in choose Utilities over to the left and the choose Upgrade Firmware. It will tell you the current firmware version in there. If it is V1.20 or higher then you are OK.

My xbox 360 says im connected to xbox live checked network setings and it says xb ox live is up and running...however when i try to play need for speed says xbox live not working functionally?...

Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -> Network Settings -> Advanced -> Wireless -> Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings." Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there. Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.) Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. Note that the standard Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter supports WPA while the standard Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter (MN-740) only supports WEP. Save your settings and verify the network is functional. On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router, and the Connect Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live. On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.

I just bought this router and am trying to get it connect with a Verison wirelss USB mobile broadband. How can I connect it to my computer and an Xbox 360?

For Verizon i found that Currently, the DIR-412 Mobile Broadband Wireless Router is the only D-Link router that is 3G compatible. The DIR-412 supports 3G USB adapters complying with HSUPA/HSDPA/EV-DO/TD-SCDMA networks and works with most major cellular carriers (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Rogers, Telus, Bell, etc).
D-Link routers empower gamers to easily connect their Microsoft Xbox to network and experience lag-free online gaming. All you need is a D-Link router to go along with your broadband connection and Xbox Live subscription and you can go head to head with friends and adversaries from around the world.

The D-Link DI-624 Wireless Broadband Router, DI-614+ Wireless Broadband Router, and the D-Link DI-604 Broadband Router have all passed the tests for compatibility with Microsoft Xbox Live with specific firmware. Just download the specific compatible firmware listed below to your D-Link router before connecting to Xbox Live.

  • Click here to upgrade your firmware.
  • Click here for Xbox Live setup instructions with a router.
  • For Xbox Live support, please visit

  • If you need more help come back.

Want to set xbox on line havnt got a clue

If you have an original Xbox the online capability is obsolete and will no longer be supported by Microsoft if you have an Xbox 360 you need to purchase an xbox live account either at a retail location or online through your xbox dashboard (internet and credit card required). You need to connect a network cable to the back of the xbox the other end to your router or modem to access Xbox live. They also sell a wireless network adaptor for the 360 that you can use instead of a wired connection.

My son's new Xbox Live cannot / will not connect with our wireless router, even though it recognizes it. I have a Belkin 802.11b

    1) Get connected to belkin's wireless network or wired network
    2) Once you get connected, it may not be able to go online on XBox Live
    3) Go to any computer that is going online with the router
    4) Type in in the address bar of your Internet explorer
    5) This will open up router interface(here we have to do some settings)
    6) In the left hand side column, click on FIREWALL.
    7) Leave the password blank in login page and disable the FIREWALL. Click on Apply Changes.
    8) Under FIREWALL(in the left hand side column), click on DMZ
    9) Make a "check" on enable and under Private IP: Click on Apply Changes.
    10) Now go to Xbox, under network settings, choose IP settings, and select manual configuration

open these ports in your router and see if that helps.

TCP: 80 443 5223 10070 10080 UDP: 3478 3479 3658 10070 Please follow the steps below to setup your Xbox with your Linksys Router:
    1. With your Xbox powered down, take an Ethernet cable and plug it into a numbered port on the router, and plug the other end into the Xbox.
    2. After you have your Xbox connected to the router, start up the Xbox without a CD in the tray.
    3. After you start the unit, you should arrive at the “Xbox Dashboard”. Select the Xbox Live option and press the “a” button on the controller.
    4. After “Xbox Live” loads select the Network Setup and press the “a” button your controller.
    5. On the “IP Address” settings, you can choose “Automatic” or “Manual”, make sure it’s Automatic.

Cannot connect xbox 360 to wireless router

If you use DSL I would also check to make sure you are not being port blocked by your ISP. Some will block you if you exceed bandwidth on a particular port rather than throttling you or shutting you down entirely.

Problem using XBOX 360 Live and Linksys WRT160N

You need to reconfigure the wireless settings of your xbox. First, verify if you xbox can connect online by using ethernet cable. If it works that way, the only thing that you need to reconfigure is the wireless settings of the xbox. Make sure you have the same SSID and encryption key with the new router.
