Device stuck on bottom right icon. cannot change.

Remote no longer has control of tv. new batteries. correct function used for tv control. must manually turn off tv. unable to do so if already selected device on tv. unable to change device status. stuck in bottom right icon. can move up one or left one space temporarily with volume/channel buttons on tv, but will immediately go back to the bottom right icon. can hold device button down and will cycle through all icons. had successfully been able to cycle and press enter to grab a different icon and then everything worked properly from that point. however, old trick no longer working.

Good Day, hcolern2b;
Sound like your TV's front panel button assembly is bad, replace or disconnect and use remote only.
Good Luck, big IRISH.............PS disconnect from front by removing speaker grill and small black panel, follow wire harness.real close by.

Remote will not work tv.

A working TV remote is a security blanket that allows us the peace of mind of knowing that we don't have to get up unless nature calls or the house catches on fire. People are more likely to spend more time and energy to fix their TV remote than to get up and change the channel. There are a number of simple fixes that can ease your mind when your TV remote is not working.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Easy Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • New Batteries
  1. Check the batteries. Make sure the batteries are in correctly and, if they are, replace the batteries. If the batteries are dead or are not in correctly, your remote will not respond and the LED light will not illuminate when a button is pressed. Make sure the TV is plugged in. An unplugged TV will not respond to any remote.
  2. Check the selected input to make sure the remote is set on the TV and not some other device programmed into the remote, such as your DVD player, VCR, or video game console.
  3. Reprogram the sync code. If you are using a universal remote, it may have deprogrammed, leaving the remote and TV out of sync.
  4. Unplug the TV for a few minutes. During a power surge, a TV can become "confused." Unplugging it for a few minutes will give the TV the break it needs to sort everything out and work properly with your remote.
  5. Use another remote on the TV. Program a universal remote to work with the TV. If the TV does not respond, the problem is likely with the TV and not the remote control.

I would go out and get a replacement Universal remote with menu keys. Set the code for your TV and try that. You may need to activate the menu with the old remote and then do the adjustments with the Universal remote. Older sets work with most Universal remotes real well. make sure you get a remote that supports MENU functions.

I've changed the batteries in my Philips Universal Remote and I still cannot get it to change. What should I do?

heres a handy little trick to determine whether your remote control is working. Get hold of a radio and switch it to AM band receive (any frequency). Hold the remote control near to the aerial and press any of the buttons..you should hear a squeeling noise from the radio.This proves that the remote control is working and that the TV is at fault. If you dont hear any noise from the radio, your remote control is faulty and you can obtain a new remote from the link below.

If you hear squeeling from the radio during the remote control test, then the TV infra red receiver board is faulty, and is located behind the small clear glass lense on the front bottom front casing of the TV. Hope this helped :)

Picture and sound go out and remote isn't working properly

Take the original Mitsubishi remote and remove the batteries. Install new fresh batteries and then try to operate the set. Do not try to use any of the inputs that are active. Just check menu funtions with the mits remote. All kinda irrational stuff happens when multiple and universal remotes get involved. If this a model remote that has a selector switch at the top for choosing tv/sat/vcr, etc make sure it's on tv.

Remote control that no longer works, ie. no response from the TV despite changing the batteries

You can get an IR remote tester at radio chack or frys. It's just a card that you point and shoot at with the remote. If you do not see red flashing on the card replace the remote . If you do then call serv shop. remote reciever is bad.

T. V. stuck on one channel showing the device option.

I had same problem and discovered one of the little buttons on the front of the TV was stuck down. Don't know why, unless the maid bumped it hard as we never use them. Anyway, I poked/wiggled a few times at each button and the problem stopped.

Older ge tv but cable ready-no remote.... need to find channel to play dvd player on.Recently connected dvd player but can't play a dvd.The tv is connected to a cable box.

Hey wegodsky,

If you're not able to find the right channel on your TV to use your DVD player, you may want to try changing the TV's input source instead. Many TV models will require that the TV be set to an external antenna in order for any other device (like a VCR or DVD player) to function correctly. This can usually be done by pressing the menu button on the TV itself and selecting an option similar to "Input," "Source" or "Antenna" if you do not have a remote control for your TV.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
