Samsung 2253BW Color issues

Hey guys,

So I bought the Samsung 2253BW the other day and everything seemed fine for a while. Then I watched a DVD and noticed that some of the bright colors appear red-ish. I thought it was the movie or something so I didn't pay that much attention to it at first. But when I got into Photoshop today I was sure something was wrong. When making a smooth transition (with tablet) from white to black, instead of grey I got red-pinkish colors. As the colors go darker they seem to appear normal all the way down to black. But the bright parts are just wrong. Tried to fix it manually and spent like 2 hours in the menu, but nothing changed.
It's so friggin frustrating, cause I can't make a print screen and compare or show visual proof.
I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the rest of my hardware. My previous monitor was Dell 1130, but it just started blinking on and off and changing modes - going into sepia and cold tones. It just got completely mangled. Then I used an old Daewoo for a while, but the colors there seemed to be fine, though I'm not entirely sure, cause it had contrast issues(Geez! Talk about bad monitor history)
I'm using the 7600GS with latest drivers and so on. But as I said - it has to be the monitor.
Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

More or less the similiar issue. Color depth seems to have dramatically lowered from when I first pluggeg it in and downloaded latest driver and software for my graphic card... Anybody have advice? I tried to calibrate and tweak every setting I can find with no change.

Hi, had the same prob - tried opening the Video card drivers controls specificly the TV and Video settings and change the control from the samsung to the player and it worked perfectly after the change. Give it a try

Thanks for the response, but no go.
It was OK for a while, but after the new drivers I installed, it's totally messed up.
I'm gonna get me an abacus and get rid of the PC.

Right. Just fixed the little bugger.
It was either the drivers for the monitor which I downloaded from the official site or the fact that I changed to 120dpi and then back to 96 (although I seriously doubt the second "solution")
Here's a link to the drivers. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: something wrong with my lcd screen

As a quick test I would try connecting the monitor to another PC to make sure the problem follows the monitor. If it does then the likely cause is a circuit board or possibly a poor connection inside the monitor. Since working on this would require opening the monitor case and voiding your 1 year warranty I would recommend you contact Samsung support for a warranty replacement as soon as possible. When you do make sure you mention the problem goes with the monitor and any other troubleshooting steps you have taken. Also the replacement they send will itself be something that was returned and fixed. The only warranty you will get will be whatever is left of your original year so definitely get this taken care of as soon as possible.

SOURCE: samsung syncmaster 914v monitor problem.

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Rainbow color effect appears when Samsung LCD plays Wii or DVD

Hello, I have a question which video inputs are you using for your DVD and Wii connections? The reason I ask is because this sounds like video distortion cuased by noise. If possible can you send a picture of the screen when it has this problem and send which video ports are being used? If it is noise in the video you may have a saw filter problem, or a decoupling issue. In any event I'll know more once you send those pictures and which inputs you are using for your DVD and Wii. Blocky images on a Toshiba DVd player

Well, this was no brainer. After simply unplugging the device for about 24 hours, everything went back to normal. Seem that the player is still having this problem from time to time, probably Bios related. I have also advise Toshiba support of the problem and the workaround. Hopefully, they will come with a permanent solution to that problem.

Have a nice day

VHS to DVD

I just bought at Best Buy the Samsung DVD Recorder & VCR. You can copy your VHS tapes right to DVD and or hook up an external source into the deck and copy them to DVD.  I find it working well but many of my tapes have tracking issues which is becoming a hurdle for myself.

Blank Screen Problem

Does the menu come up? If it does, then, the source could be the problem, such as the cable or DVD player. If the source is not the issue, then, the problem would be in the Digital or Analog PCBs. If the menu does not come on, then, the problem is more than likely the DMD. If it is not the source then call a local authorized Samsung servicer in your area. Contact 1-800-Samsung. Hope this helps.
