Go to support section at the Linksys website. Enter your model number and download "Easylink Connect" software. This is the easiest way if you dont have the installation cd.

I dont know the wifi password -windows 7 of my broadband

When you power up the wireless router and the LEDs are ON then the router appears to be OK and this also applies to the DSL or cable wireless modem. To check if the modem is configured to your ISP settings and the modem connects to the Internet, connect the modem with a LAN cable to your laptop and check if you can get into the Internet. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router's wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router. To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: - 1, Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA). The encryption key can be easily set up using a passphrase (it can be an alpha numeric phrase or words). 7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

You should check to see if there is a router firmware update and also one for your network adapter. You can use Dell's support website for the adapter

Dell has a nasty habit of making you go to their website to get some of the drivers. Check to make sure your wireless card's drivers are there (probably not). Right click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager. I'm betting you'll find a yellow circle with a black exclamation point under your Network Adapters. If so, go to the Dell site for your drivers, download and install. It'll be recognized automatically. Let me know if this doesn't work. If it does, please rate me accordingly!

What you want to do is run System Restore prior to the day you restarted your computer.  Depending on your Service Pack 1or 2, you'll find System Restore by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools.  If your Service Pack 3 then you'll find it by going to the Help and Support Center, and clicking on undo changes to your computer with System Restore.  Once it's restored, it should bring back your access to the wireless router/network.

Wireless network

She would need a wireless card. Make sure the 802 standard is the same as the router supports. An n wireless card will not work on a router that is a g. you can also enter the settings of the router to make sure it is set to the accept the standard she uses on her wireless. my linksys can do b and g... but i have it set to only accept g. make sure you set security on the router when you have a connection establish so you aren't sharing your internet with wireless neighbours.

4. Go to the wireless tab Check the wireless settings If the Wireless network name is Linksys change it.
Cilck save settings.
Go to the subtab wireless security.
Change the security to WPA Personal
then for passphrase put in a password 8 chars or more.

try to plug all the connection as it was before, then you will be able to access your wireless f router via web based control panel and from there you will be able to configure the settings, if its automatic or you have to set as static, it depends on the modem, if the modem requires you to dial up for the connection so that the router may be able to read the connection and you will start to have the internet connection as soon as the modem reads the router through this setting, the web access by default is 192.168.1.1 and the defaul username would be admin and password is admin.

hope thi help you out, if theres anything you need to ask just send me question...

Hello Art G.

The easiest way to get connected to your access point is by using the CD that came with the AP. If you don't have it, you have to get connected to the access point in order to get the WEP KEY.

If do you have the model of the Access point (2wire) i can help you with that.

I HAVE A DELL COMPUTER, AND A LYNKSYS MODEM AND ROUTER. I HAVE TRYED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE ROUTER TO WORK SO I CAN USE MY IBM T40 LAPTOP, WIRELESSLY. EACH TIME MY INTERNET ACCESS ON THE DELL IS TURNED...

sounds to me like u r running the dell in the usb, and it has to be on for the ibm to work, or you have a dual ip addressing problem, which is a negative to the ibm when the dell is off.

My son has a IBM think pad as well, and when he uses the Ibm with his linksys wireless router he has the same problem, or did until I addressed the dual ip address issue, which I had to change the Ip address on our netgear, and left his as was and changed the one from My Dell inspiron 8600, I suggest you go to the linksys web site and follow the re install of new drivers for your router and if possible upgrade. they have available w wireless handing software program available to linksys customers as a trial you can download called NETMAGIC which also works quite well, and your able to monitor your network and it usually works well, I've used it until I upgraded to my netgear wireless G router.
hope this info helps you out.
