Question about Lexmark X1270 All-In-One InkJet Printer

I am desperately in need of my scanner. I have had the Lexmark 1270 All-In-One for one year. Last week, the scanner would not work. I have the original software, have tried everything. I have power. The printer works fine. I have uninstalled it, reinstalled both software and hardware but the file keeps saying some files are missing or damaged. I have follwed all troubleshooting advice and nothing works. I MUST send a fax today - am out in the country and can't get to town! How can the software say it's loading and then not find the scanner?
What can I do right away? Please respond to my email address as above.
