Question about Lexmark X1270 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Scanner Will Not Work - Printer Does!

I am desperately in need of my scanner. I have had the Lexmark 1270 All-In-One for one year. Last week, the scanner would not work. I have the original software, have tried everything. I have power. The printer works fine. I have uninstalled it, reinstalled both software and hardware but the file keeps saying some files are missing or damaged. I have follwed all troubleshooting advice and nothing works. I MUST send a fax today - am out in the country and can't get to town! How can the software say it's loading and then not find the scanner?
What can I do right away? Please respond to my email address as above.

    Same printer working but copy/scan/fax does not work. Driver has not installed correctly on Vista Home Premium desktop.



    Same driver disk installed OK on to Vista Home premium on laptop and all functions work.



    Cannot uninstall driver for either old Lexmark 1150 or new 1270 from desktop Help please.

Go to www.download.com and download a program call ccleaner. With this program remove all lexmark programs, reboot your pc and install again the lexmark 1270.

Hey Helen,
This can be hard or easy depending on which softwre your printer/scanner has loaded.
Firstly, install the software that came with your printer scanner.
Once thats done, you should be able to access the scanners functions either through an icon in the taskbar (bottom right corner of your screen) or by pressing the scan button on the printer.
Once the scanner starts up, it should ask if you want to save the scanned image to your PC or, in some cases, email the image.
Save the image into your "my documents" folder so you can find them later and give the file a name that you can easily associate with the image (like my daughter etc)..
Scanning to email will usually start up outlook or outlook express which is no good if you do not use outlook and use a third party email system like hotmail etc.
So, shut down outlook in this case. otherwise, setup your email as you normally would (receivers email address, subject etc)..
If you use hotmail etc, the procedure is about the same..
Once you are ready to attach the image from your scanner, click on "attach" and select file.
In the dialog box that opens, select browse and navigate to your "my documents " folder if it is not already in that folder. Select the file you scanned and named earlier and click on open or attach.
The file will then upload and appear in the list of attachments once uploading is complete.
Click on send and off it goes..

Won't scan


Hello,

We need to first check the driver to make sure it is installed and working correctly. Please go to “start menuè control panelè scanners and cameras”.
(Note: For Vista users, you must select “classic view” in control panel to be able to see “scanners and cameras”)


You should now see all scanners currently installed.
If you do see your brother scanner, please right click the icon and select “properties”; here you can select “test scanner”.

If the test fails, select the “network settings” tab. Here you can have the driver set to locate the device by name or by IP address, please select IP address and make sure the IP address matches that of your brother machine.

To get the IP address on your brother, print out the network settings page; either with the “report” button on the printer or go “menuè print reports”

If the scanner does not appear in the list at all, you will need to reinstall the software. You can download the software using the below link.

If your scanner successfully completed the diagnostic test, we can move on to try using control center to scan.
To access Control Center, please go to “Start menuè All programsè brotherèControl Center”.

In Control center, please make sure the correct device is being selected in the ”model” drop down list.

Hi,
This solution is for "older" R-series All-in-One's but it may be your solution as well. You may be experiencing a situation in AllN1's called "SCANNER SYSTEM FAILURE" where the scanner bulb may be weaker than it appears by naked sight and doesn't meet system power requirements to "pass" as good to go and thereby is passing to the printer a failure condition. In the R-Series AllN1's the ultimate solution was a bulb replacement. Which surprisingly is not as intimidating as it may sound if you might want to tackle the problem on a do it yourself basis. Printer shows offline/Scanner has no destination list


You must program the email addresses in the machine address book, so that you will have a destination list to scan to email.
You can also try to scan by pressing the Scanner button to access the scanner function and input the email address manually by selecting manual, and then press the Start button to scan the document.
