Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

When I try to reboot my delld620, with windows xp pro, after the whole process is done, when I go to my desktop all my software is all there and pretty much nothing has changed. Its like I attempted to reboot just to waste time. The primary reason why I want to reboot is because I have no audio online like for example official web sites have no sound I've tried everything and it seem that no one I know, knows what there doing.

Hi Pinky01, Its me Tony, letting you know that before I had the no audio on youtube problem, my dvd didn't have sound long before the online without sound and youtube issue, so I'm thinking there 2 separate problems. my dvd plays though theres just no sound. Thats another problem I have with my computer BTW which I was gonna exclude.

  • es4o8sj Sep 10, 2008

Well I just downloaded wmp 11 and I was playing a movie. I can watch it but there's no sound. I downloaded a mp3 music file and I started a music. I get an error. This is what it says. "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Well I can go into my Device Manager now but where is the chipset at?

  • es4o8sj Sep 10, 2008

So I delete all the devices in "Sound, video and game controllers"? After I do that, I restart my computer and xp will re-install automatically? And when you mean "XP will re-install them at the reboot." It's in the beginning??

  • es4o8sj Sep 16, 2008

I got sound from youtube now. But now, windows media player 1, It doesn't play dvd audio. But I can listen to music files(mp3). So far what you help me with has been great to me and is always. Thank you so much.

Re-install the config for the sound device: by the Control Panel/System/Material tab/Device manager, you select the Audio Controller. You're supposed to have many descriptors. Delete all of them, one by one and then restart your computer. XP will re-install them at the reboot.

Please, can you tell me the Chipset installed on your pc?

  • Elise Lacoursiere
    Elise Lacoursiere Sep 08, 2008

I will give you a link to Intel that will help you. But, before, please, verify the chipset installed on your pc. How? You can right-click on My Computer and select Properties. Click on the Material tab. You will see the info about the Intel chipset. Write it down, you'll need it later.

The driver for the audio controller has to be corrected. By installing the Intel driver, it will correct the problem. Once you will have downloaded a .exe file, you execute it. You will have to indicate the path of all drivers on the pc. Just to make sure we choose the right folder, you can verify the driver of any device and see where it is located. By exemple, by the Control Panel, select the mouse, click on Material, Properties, Driver, Detail of the driver. That is the path to indicate when executing the .exe

Now for the link, you will reach the Download center. If you are not sure about the driver to download, there's a utility to identify your system.

Need more info, let me know.

I am now working on my pc, that has XP basic.

I need to know if you can listen to other type of audio files (mp3, wma...). Is there sound?

Is the problem with Media Player ?

And, can you try to verify if on Youtube.com you choose any file, right-click on a file and verify on properties, what is the type of file, and if you can try to listen to the file.

I don't want Palladium on my computer and I can't delete it

Manual Removal procedure for Palladium Pro The first step you must take in order to remove Palladium Pro is to stop one of the following processes below. Only one of them will be running.
  • Palladium.exe
  • PalladiumPro.exe
  • Palladiumantivirus.exe
  • Z.exe
To Stop this process you can browse to the file location shown below and re-name the file first and then restart your computer. Then browse to that file location again and delete the file.
The next step in Palladium Pro removal is to delete the following file:
Windows XP :
  • C:\Program Files\Palladium Pro\PalladiumPro.exe
  • C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\Palladium.exe
  • C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Palladium Pro.lnk
  • C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Palladium Pro\Palladium Pro.lnk
  • C:\Program Files\Startup\Palladium Pro.lnk
Windows Vista / Windows 7 :
  • C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Palladium.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Palladium Pro\PalladiumPro.exe
  • C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Palladium Pro.lnk
  • C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Palladium Pro\Palladium Pro.lnk
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Startup\Palladium Pro.lnk
  • C:\%AppData%\Z.exe
Once you have successfully deleted these traces, Palladium Pro should no longer be running in your machine and now you should run a complete virus scan for the system using Spyware Doctor with Antivirus. This will let you know whether you have been able to remove all the traces of Palladium Pro successfully and also whether there is any other threat still available in the system.
If you need advanced help or an expert we recommend www.onlinecomputerrepair.org
Palladium Pro Registry Removal Procedures Now that your system is free from the Palladium Pro file traces that have been mentioned above, it is time to get rid of the infected registry items.
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "Palladium"
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "Palladium Pro"
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "Palladium Pro"
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palladium Pro
It is important that you run a complete virus scan for your computer when you are done with the removal procedure to ensure maximum protection for the system. For that, we suggest you to run the scan with Spyware Doctor with Antivirus.
Palladium Pro Directories: XP
  • C:\Program Files\Palladium Pro\
  • UPDATED: We have a report of it being at C:\Windows\Palladium Pro for some users.
Windows 7 / Windows Vista
  • C:\Program Files (x86) \Palladium Pro

Try to use the System Restore, this process will fix all system errors in your computer.

In your desktop screen, go to:
  1. Start Menu
  2. All Programs
  3. Accessories
  4. System Tools
  5. System Restore
  6. In the System Restore Window, choose Restore my computer to an earlier time.
For example: Today is March 22, try to locate the date were your computer is in perfect condition.

7. Click Next
8. Then you'll see some marked dates
which means those are the dates to use
the system restore
9. Choose a date, then click Next
button
10. Your computer will automatically
restart then wait for the process to
finish
11. A message will appear that states
your computer is successfully restored
12. Then observed the changes in
your computer system

The card reader is fully compatible with
windows XP platform.
Have you checked if your windows has the latest service packs?
The equipment does no require special software, generally windows XP should be able to install it automatically, just plug in the USB card.

Deleted as a process from disk
Created as a process on disk

This file I believe it is from GameGuard, Nprotect.

IBM Netvista 6059 - Can't upgrade to windows XP

Right well XP Pro really MUST be formatted with NTFS only... I suggest you get a third party partitioning program like Partition magic and completely remove the partition & redo it all again & this time Format NTFS. Or if ya have a WIN98 boot disk, and ya can use FDISK, Delete ALL partitions, and remake them again, using all the disk space, then format as NTFS, then proceed as below Then using your windows XP PRO setup Disk, start the install ...then when asked about where you want the install located, select C & REFORMAT it AGAIN with the windows setup using again NTFS file system... this should finish & then the Install should "see" your entire hard drive and format it accordingly and then when finished you can proceede to install XP.
