HELP! when i try to open my webcam on my laptop it says the program has stopped working! is there a way i can fix this? HELP!!

Did you try reinstalling the drivers? Maybe try uninstalling the webcam device from the Device Manager first.
Sometimes programs that install later can affect the workings of existing software or devices.
More ideas here.

Not quite sure about the viewfinder program, but you could try a different program to capture a video with your webcam. Will at least tell you if all is working fine or not.

You can manage your webcam if you have installed Dell Webcam Manager.


1. click on START
2. When the menu opens, highlight either All Programs or Programs.

3. Click the Dell Webcam folder, then click the Dell Webcam Manager icon to open it.

If it is not on your system, try to remove and reinstall the driver from manufacture website.

I think ur laptop webcam driver not installed properly.If ur laptop have windows vista operating system then do these steps.
Goto Start - Programs - Recovery Manager - Recovery Manager.In that recovery manager,click on next.Its shows the Software reinstallation page.Click on next button two times.Its shows the software lists.Select the webcam software and click on next button.After reinstallation completed , u restart laptop and check it.
If ur laptop have windows XP operating system then u uninstall the webcam software through Add/Remove program and restart it.After restarting ,Reinstall the web cam software and check it. If u doesnt have webcam drivers then u go for nearest service centre and install it.

sounds to me like there are other issues with your windows operating system. run a full diagnostic with norton system works to correct the problem, if it doesnt fix it, then i suggest you return the webcam and get something better :D
