I had a retired TV repairman diagnose my tv, said a transistor and two resistors blew on the convergence power supply board. I have the board in front of me, part number looks like PSDF-240. Can't find one on the internet. RCA says I have to have the TV diagnosed by an authorized repair center. Any ideas?

Re: HD52W59 Convergence Power Supply
You can get the replacement ITC222 convergence power supply board at the following link. They have one at promotional sale price this week also under the sale items category. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/

Your RCA TV needs serious troubleshooting. Burning smell is from HV transformer or resistors smoking.
Most likely power supply and/or high voltage circuit or convergence circuit. Many times RCA have multiple or secondary faults that occur with HV or convergence failure.
Repair of RCA HV or convergence usually requires exact manufacturer parts and upgrades or repair in power supply. I would not advise trying this repair without manufacturer support for correct part numbers and service bulletins.
Power supply is my initial thoughts, but then again it could be that one of the three CRT's tubes has an issue. My thoughts is that it would be best to bring it to a good TV repair shop. Why spend money on a power supply and then find out it's a CRT. Blessings, A/V Media Guy
Your set doesnt have STK ICs. If the convergence adjustment option has disappeared from the on screen menu, then replace FL231, DL231 and CL230 If the adjustment option hasnt disappeared from the menu then you need to check the resistors on the convergence power supply board some of those will be open. The actual convergence Board will usually not develope problems just the Convergence power supply if the convergence adjustment option is still in the on screen menu.
This is an indication that the convergence amps are drawing too much current which has an effect on the power supply and thus killing your sound by removing or lowering the voltage supplied to that stage, finally this results in the blowing of the fuse. I would suggest that you change the convergence amplifiers and the biasing resistors (All of them) and then see if this corrects your problem (I believe it will). Also get a schematic of the TV and try to find out how the power supply relates the sound module and the convergence module, they might share a common power bus, or the voltage regulator for the sound also feeds the convergence board.
This problem is commonly refered to as a CONVERGENCE problem. Question 1 do you have convergence seting in setup menu...if you do NOT it could be a special small fuse. 2 if you go into setup then convergence. then can you move crosshairs in setup. Since you have a arcing picture this indicates convergence power supply problems....in which has to be replaced or repaired,
Before you go and buy parts it might be worth your time to check the convergence power supply fuse. It's located in the back of the TV just to the right of a large black component with 2 red wires coming off of the top. This is the flyback transformer. Just to the right of the flyback you should see three fuseable links that look like chicklet's gum. The one that may have fried is the one in the middle, it's a 400mA 125V fuseable link. Hopefully thats all your problem is.
The service # is hd52w59 and then something like yx1 or etc..... On the model # tag, this is written in very small writing. There is no way to remove the convergence option. Go to menu the set up and there you should find convergence. Choose convergence and run auto converge. If this does not work then there is a failure on the convergence power supply, convergence amp, or the deflection/power bd.
