Question about Sony KP-51HW40 51" Rear Projection Television
If the problem was related only to the trace back lines (curved) on hte screen the signal strength can be adjusted in the potentiometer (variable resistor) located in front down part of the TV cabinet (when you remove the front cover of the speakers and control panel. In case you never removed that panel, there are 2 screws with little plastic cover in the bottom of the TV set (one on the right side/ another on the left side). After removing the screws, lift the whole panel and remove it. Be careful not to stretch the cords or break any of them. in the bottom-center you will find the variable resistors, one for each color. It come with drop of paint to avoid factory adjustment to move. Find your color of problem and adjust the back trace signal strength until it disappear from the screen. A slight adjustment will make it. It's very sensitive.

Blue CRT is most likely shorted. When the blus screen comes up are there concave lines in the screen as well?
