You will have to unplug the VCR and take it apart. You should be able to move the mchanism and/or door to free the tape.

Cannot play a VHS tape. Push in and pops out.

The belt on the loader motor is slipping. This causes the tape to not completely position itself to allow the tape to load around the drum. The machine senses this and ejects the tape.

How many motors are in the VCR section? example 1 motor for play, 1 motor for hi-speed rewind, 1 motor for hi-speed forward.

There are only 2 motors on the VCR sections.1 motor for the rewind backward and speed foward.1 motor for take in the VHS tape and eject the tape. The play button also used the same rewind backward and speed forward motor to push the film foward to the VCR play head head drums to play the tape.

Have a Magnavox MWR20V6 - have a few things going on, one the power shutting off automatically when i put the vcr on timer and therefore does not record, and 2 vhs tapes that are almost new, gets stuck

Junk it. It's identical to Funai WV20V6. I can't remember exactly what is causing the shutdown. But, I do remember that it says it can't be fixed. Read other posts here at Fixya.

Vhs SP tapes

It sounds like the tapes may be physically damaged, wrinkled or creased. This may have been done when they were played in whatever machine you used 5 years ago. Tapes can also be damaged in storage by heat or humidity. Tapes should also be stored on end in their boxes, not flat. If these tapes were stored flat, the bottom edge might have gotten wrinkled. This can damage the control track and cause playback issues.

A lot of the functionality you are wanting is tied to the remote that you have misplaced. You can go to the Pioneer support site and order a new remote, though it is like $30.

As for wiring options to record, it depends on the inputs and outputs that are available on your television.
- Ideally, connect VCR to TV input "1", connect DVR output to TV input "2", and conect TV output to DVR. This will help you avoid any copy protection issues you run into, but not all TV sets have both audio and video output.
- If you don't have TV outputs, connect VCR out to DVR in, and then DVR out to TV in. This will definitely work, but you will have to have the DVR turned on to watch a VCR tape.
