What is the load on the unit? How old is it?

The symptom can occur if the load is too large. It will also happen when the unit reaches a certain age.

I've found that the low-end consumer UPS's should be replaced when the battery fails. The charging circuitry usually fails to charge the battery even with a new battery soon after the replacement.

The way I check if the battery or the UPS charging system has failed is with a voltmeter to give the current voltage and a variable DC power supply (whatever is appropriate for the battery) to attempt to charge the battery. I can watch the battery discharge with an oscilliscope if I want a full trace of the unit.) Charge the battery fully then watch the unit over time. If the battery itself is bad, you won't get the full charge or it will discharge as soon as it is removed from the power supply.

I hope this helps.

Not Working During Power Outage

Bad battery in the UPS. To test unplug all equipment. Check outgoing power with voltage meter. Should read around 115vAC. Then unplug from the wall outlet. Check voltage again. If no voltage is present its a bad battery.

When you change your batteries don't take all four out at a time. There is a chance that your back up battery is and you might ruin your calculator. So when you change your batteries, do it one at a time. Try to do it with stealth. This will not reset your calculator, and this will make sure nothing will go wrong.

The battery backup side of the APC does not work how can I fix this?

How old is unit? UPS is a Battery that is charged from power outlet. It maintains voltage when computers are plug into it so fluctuations in current don't spike or wane.On a Power Failure the UPS supplies all the power by using the battery and an inverter. If your units batteries are not charging you need to replace them.In most cases it is not cost effective.Do some more test before you replace it.Good Luck.

UPS power goes off instantly as soon the external supply stops.

In our office, I have had to replace UPS batteries AGAIN two years after I replaced the original batteries in the units. I had purchased the replacement batteries locally, so I don't know if the brand of replacement batteries was not as good as the original batteries or what. But your weak battery light is not flashing ... I would try a replacement battery (if it isn't too expensive) but I know that some of the older batteries are no longer used in the newer UPS units so if the problem wasn't the battery you are stuck with a new battery and nothing to use it for.
