Question about Casio Exilim EX-S500 Digital Camera

Lens Error My cameras battery was low but I kept taking pictures until the camera shut off by itself. The lens didn't retract all the way and now when I try to turn my camera on it makes a clicking noise like the lens wants to move but it doesn't and on the back screen it states a lens error. I am not sure how to resolve this problem I have charged the battery and taken it out. I unfortunately do not have the manual on me.

Re: Lens Error

First of all the manual is available on this site, in case you'll need it in the future. the manual says that if you have a "lense error" message it means the lense is obstructed, i'm guessing against it in your case, but its worth while checking to see if theres nothing jammed in its track. it's actually a known, and common problem with these small casios. i heard that a quick fix is that when it happens the camera battery has to be removed, and that should clear it, but the problem can also return, and after a while that trick won't do the trick any more. if you want to have it fixed while still in warranty don't wait to see if any of the common "blow air into the..." or "use some epoxy" fixes help you, you can try all that later. good luck

Kodak easyshare Z650 lens extends and retracts

I only can think of two reasons. The first, the battery does not have enough power. As a safety precaution it shuts itself down, to avoid damage to the saved pictures. Because if the voltage is to low, it can't write with 100% accuracy.
Second: something is blocking free movement of the lens. This could have a cause inside the lens barrel, and you won't see a thing. It also could be a minute damage on the outside of the lens. Or what sometimes happens while putting the camera on, you touch the lens barrel. I assume you did remove any lens cap attached to the camera.
So if you can't see any damage to the lens barrel, charge the battery and try again.

Samsun sl201 lens will not extend, then camera shuts down

If the camera's lens will not retract out, then eventually shuts down, here is what you try to do.

Hold the camera from your right hand with the lens facing down. Then tap the base of the camera to your left palm while turning the camara on; do this several times until the camera's lens retracts out.

This problem often occur when the camera was taken outdoor or in the beach. Sand or a tiny granule of dirt might got stuck in the base of the lens.

Lens retracts when turned on

Defective mechanism, a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. You need professional service to fix it.
