The bottom part of my screen always blink..it happened when there was a short circuit.. when i opened the main power, the screen slowly show this problem..is it somthing to do with the LCD??

Yes it affects your lcd.... the backlight inverter located on the lower parts of the screen is almost busted....Backlight which is located in the upper and lower portion of your monitor is responsible for giving image and display on your screen. if this light never work then black screen will only be seen in your monitor...

It is too risky to change the backlight inverter by yourself if you don't have the knowldege, skill and the right tools to open your laptop..

My suggestion is to have your backlight replaced by a credible technician...

Hope I answer your question..

Much appreciated if you rate this help.. thanks

Monitor went dark

You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight. It could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out, this is the most likely case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Back light or inverter. my screen is black.

If you see a very dim image or black screen or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Problem with my Acer

hello Aznarel,

Firstly we need to establish if the problem is caused by the notebook's display or by it's on board graphics adapter. To do this I need you to connect an external display to the notebook. I see that the 292 has a VGA I/O port to which any VGA display can be connected.
When the notebook's screen is displayed on the external display one of two scenarios may be experienced:
  1. The problem's symptoms may manifest on the external display, indicating a problem with the notebook's on board graphics adapter. Since this problem can only be solved by replacing the notebook's motherboard, it may be more economical to buy a new one, depending on the status of the notebook's warranty.

  2. The problem's symptoms are not experienced when the screen is displayed on an external display, indicating a problem with the notebook's display. If this is the case I will suspect a malfunctioning inverter.
Reason: When the LCD TFT display starts flickering it is a sign that the backlight is not receiving the correct current (the inverter provides the backlight with the required current).
As opposed to a malfunctioning backlight. When a dark, faint output display is the only experienced symptom (that is; no flickering of the screen and no lockup of screen display) the LCD's backlight is at fault
In case of scenario 2 the solution will be to take the notebook to a computer repair shop where a certified IT technician can order and replace the malfunctioning inverter.
I hope you find this information helpful in solving the problem.
Please take the time to rate this solution.
Kind regards and thanks for using the FixYa service.

LCD goes dim within 1-2 minutes

You could have a bad "inverter" or flourescent backlight tube, or a problem in your power supply. The only way to isolate the problem is to check each component in sequence. If your hard disk and DVD / CD drive are still working when your screen goes dark, then I'd say it's the "inverter". You'll have to take it to a repair shop.
