Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition

1 Answer

Compatability with older programs

I cannot load my print shop version 6, my hallmark card studio, my hp printer for pictures, and mostly my sony ditigial camera for loading pictures on the computer. My last computer died (windows XP) and I had a separate hard drive made saving all my documents and pictures on it. Now I can't do anything with it. I had projects on all of these programs and cannot access any of it. My error messages say they are not compatable (32bit vs. 64bit). I want my old system to enteract with vista. HELP

Start menu... control panel... click on programs... under programs and features you will see "use an older program with this version of windows"

The compatability wizarrd will start.... let it show you the complete list of programs on your computer. chose one program at a time and run them in the under xp.

Repeat those steps for the programs that do not work properly under vista.

Can not get Adobe PhotoDeluxe2.0 to install on windows 7. Worked fine on Vista

Adobe Photo Deluxe is an older program that does not seem to be compatible with Windows 7. you should contact Adobe to see if they have an updated version.

However, you can try the following to see if it will help.
If the program is not compatible, then you may try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.
Use the following steps:
1)Right click on the Program
2)Click on Properties
3)Click on Compatibility tab
4)Select Run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or whatever operating system the program was running successfully.
Refer to the link here: Make older programs run in this version of Windows

HELP I have used Print Shop for 20 years and I'm so dependant on it I have been using Version 11. We were in a car wreck and our vehicle burned...with my laptop inside! I purchased a new...

So often computer software's are improvised by the manufacturer into another version much innovative than the prior. Usually, software updates may least improve the feature functionality only as a compatible version to another computer. The versions listings on the software are identification number provided by the manufacturer to distinguish between several programs of similar or prior establishment. Computer devices require a compatibility inspection prior to acquisition to achieve integration into the existing system. Usually new programs require inspection for compatibility to an existing computer prior to acquisition. In which instance, a new computer sets the alternative arrangement of compatibilities. First, the new computer is least expected to be compatible only encountering outdated software programs as a likely observation. A new computer continues to function with prior software's because is compatible. Usually, new software's perform better with newer computer as compatibility matches or feature functionality requirement to attain user experience. Print shop should perform as before with windows 7 computers only with compartibity that is observable on capability to be downloaded on the computer. An alternate arrangement includes acquiring recently innovated print software that would not only be compatible to the new computer but also modernized to achieve user experiences.

Try and run the programme using compatability mode.

Windows can do this for you if you wish.

Open Control Panel
>> Click Programs
>>>The click Use an older program in this version of Windows

Then follow the wizards instructions.

Or you can do this manually.

Right click on the program icon and select Properties, then the Compatibility tab. In the drop down list titled Compatibility Mode select a different version of windows to use that operating systems settings to run the program.

Sir, I have eight Hallmark card programs. I love it! I make my grandkids a card a week and put a dollar in it! My problem is,my computer is very slow. My husband bought me a new one..7 I have had an XP...

This program has been designed to work exclusively in XP - so it will not install in 7.
You have 2 options:
1. you ask a friend to install in your new pc the XP mode
and in it you install your Hallmark program.
2. you just reinstall XP in the old pc and no other program but Hallmark and the printer - it will run as fast as when you bought it.

I had an application called "creatacard gold 3" on my old computer with xp. I have all my important information from past 10 years is on that application. the computer crashed and i needed to buy a new...

The CreateACard Gold 3 (CAC Gold 3) will never work with Windows 7 64bit unassumingly because the software producing company has not upgraded their software for even Vista 64bit.
I recommend you to switch to " Hallmark Card Studio Special Edition" it has all the features of CAC Gold 3. You will enjoy it as there should be no problem installing it with Windows 7 64bit.

Good Luck!

Check the compatibility mode for the Vista to install your "craft studio"cd it may not be compatible with Vista and can only run in XP mode or Windows 98.

here is the instruction from Microsoft to use the compatibility mode in Windows Vista:

Print Shop 23 appears to install, but never finalizes

The fact that MS Net 1.1 framework is compatible with the 32-bit version of Vista - because I am using Print Shop 23 on my 32-bit version of Vista.

However, Print Shop 23 is not supported on the 64-bit version of Vista. and MS Net 1.1 framework is not compatible with the 64-bit version of Vista. So, I would guess that you are using a 64-bit version of Vista.

I have heard that one way to work around compatibility issues with MS Net 1.1 framework is to make sure you have the latest update installed for MS Net 1.1 framework. But, since I'm not sure that that is the only recommended fix for your problem, the best thing for you to do would probably be to click on this link
