What do you have with a dehumidifier on or in it?????????

Most go into a drain or have bucket provided with the portable humidifier as shown in the user guide that must be dumped!
If you have no guide book go online and download or order it from the manufacture!
Explain to me what exactly do you have??????

Check the pressures of the refrigerant...sounds like it is low which means there is a leak that needs to be located & repaired.

My Danby DPAC1010 Portable Air Conditioner is dehumidifying when simply in AC mode. I don't want it to, but if fills up a 2 gallon bucket every 2-3 days. I've had it overflow twice and I cannot...

The only way to stop it from dehumidifying is to stop it. A dehumidifier is a AC that is 'tuned poorly'. In your machine, while in dehumidify mode, you actually are running the AC in 'slow".

It is a law of physics. Warm air can hold moisture. Cold air can not hold moisture. When you remove the heat from the air, the water has to go somewhere, so it condenses on the coils and drips into the tank. Yes, that is true: Heat is a thing, you have to remove heat from the air. You don't simply "cool it", you remove the heat.

Your Danby should have a automatic shut off that comes into play when the condensate tank gets full. MY Danby, which is a sllightly different model than yours, has a connection that allows me to connect a hose that I lead to a floor drain to disponse of the condensate (water).

If yours is not equipped with a shut off nor a drain and you say it fills every 2 to 3 days, the options I see that you have is to dump it every day, or - don't run it all the time, or - turn the setting to a higher number which will reduce the AC and dehumidifying effect. On the down side of that, your humidity will remain high at the higher setting.

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com and thanks for letting me assist you this evening.

Does this air con have a dehumidifying function?

Actually thats what an air conditioner is. It pulls the humidity out of the air when functioning properly. You can see the himidity being taken out of the conditioned space through the condensate drain.

Hi,

There are many reasons why a dehumidifier will not work or collect water.

Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier

Window duct

you should put it out the window in order to function properly. the process of dehumidifying is actually like squeezing a sponge out that is full of water if you just dont put the duct out the window you are likely just dumping humidity right back into the room and accomplishing nothing but the use of power and wear and tear on your equipment. hope this helps good luck.
Note from a Heating and Air Service company owner - Always have annual regular service done on your systems by a pro to keep it operation at peak efficiency and to catch a possible worn or dated component before it breaks on the hottest or coldest day of the year. Don't always assume its just some guy trying to sell you something. More than 9 out of 10 contractors are really there to help you.

What does the "dry" mode function do on the Goldstar GWHD6507R window air conditioner unit? There are also "cool" and "fan" modes, but the "dry" mode is mysterious. Is it some kind of dehumidifier...

Your AC removes humidity and cools the air, in Dry Mode it cools the air but does not remove the humidity as much, which is OK in a desert (Las Vegas, Arizona, etc.) but not good for caribbean with the high humidity
