Question about Roper REX3614KW Electric Dryer

Roper Dryer not Drying

Hello!
I have a Roper Dryer (mod. # REX3614PWO) that doesn't dry. I run the machine holding the door switch in, and the following happens: Heating Element comes on for ~ 30 - 40 seconds, shuts down for ~ 1.5 minutes. Heating Element comes back on, only for about 20 seconds this time, and shuts down for at least 2 minutes, and the pattern continues... less time for the heating element and more time for the intervals between. Is this a thermostat issue?? Is that hard to deal with? HELP!
Thank You!
Rich M.
(p.s. I've already checked my ductwork... it's fine)

Get a thermostat and place it in the exhaust. The thermostat should reach 160 and then shut down and drop to 120 F and start back heating to 160 again on cotton setting. You should hear an audible click when the thermostat opens and closes. If the dryer is clear of lint and blockages then change the control thermostat which is mounted on the blower housing.

Could be the fuse or maybe the door switch:

Roper dryer will not start. Had just finished drying a load of clothes, put in the next load and it wouldn't start. The timer still ticks.

Maybe you door switch has broken?

The little tab should click.
Another possibility is dryer overheat due to lint buildup

8_17_2011_3_52_38_pm.jpgSee that white skinny thing mounted next to the air temp control thermostat? That thing will melt if too much junk gets into the lint filter or vent pipe. If it does it kills the door circuit and the dryer is dead in the water. More here

The drum turns. It heats up. But only small loads of cotton get dry! We have changed the vent tube. Vacuumed the vent the lint catcher area and around the drum to remove lint and hair. Still not...

Hello,
A very typical problem with GAS dryers is the soloniod coils that open the gas valve . When the coils are cool they operate just fine, but once the dryer gets warm from running the coils dont open the gas valve wwhen they are warm. If that is what your experiencing, the dryer heats when its cool but doesn't heat when it's been running for a while, the coils on the gas valve will need to be replaced.

Roper dryer Mod #RES7646KQ you have to dry the close twice after two times close come out hot and dry what is the problem

Check to make sure that the dryer vent is clean or open. Make sure the dryer lint screen will let air through it...... take it to the kitchen sink and run water through it if water runs through it easily it is OK if it holds water then clean it with dishsoap and try again..... The dry is not getting enough air passed through the dryer.... Also I am assuming that the Washer is wringing out all of the water from the clothes.

Hi There, My Roper dryer stopped drying clothes

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Check to make sure you are getting full 220 Volt power to the dryer, if you are then:
Check your Wiring
Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.
Check the Door Switch
If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Check for continuity you should have none with door open, and should have a reading when closed. If not replace the door switch.
Check to make sure you heating problem is not a lint build up in the discharge hose or the dryer,as this condition can cause heater/thermistor problems such as overheating of the heating coil leading to failure of the coil and burnout of the thermostat/thermistor due to overheat.
Sounds like your problem may be with the heating coil. Remove the back/or front just under the door of the machine and try to locate the air duct going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside/outside the air duct you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistors. Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty.
If the heating coil is ok, then:
You can check the thermostat/thermistor one at a time by removing the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape or with an ohm meter to test the thermostat/thermistor. (Should have/show continuity)
If the coil heats up then replace the thermostat/thermistor.
(Thermal fuse.If it overheats the dryer will not operate. It's located on the blower housing. It cannot be reset. A vent clogged with lint can cause it to overheat. You can test it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker, if no continuity, replace it)
DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST.
This could cause a FIRE, as you have removed the safety of overheat from the machine.
Right after replacing a dryer element, always run the dryer on 'air fluff' / 'no heat', and go outside to verify there's plenty of air coming out your vent system.
If the vent's clogged, that new element can burn out very quickly.

Roper Dryer model # RED4405Q shutting off

The motor may be getting hot due to bad rolers idler or glide. You need to take the machine apart and oil it. While you have it broken down you may want to turn the motor and see if it is stiff. The motor can be oiled but it is tricky. there are no oil ports you must make some. I use zoomspout oiler from ace hardware. Its high temp resistant formula and viscosity is perfect for dryers and HVAC needs.

Not drying

I know you cleaned the lint vent but your vent hose is clogged or damaged and there is no air exchange thru the dryer Air can only hold 100% humidity. You could dry your clothes for 10 hours but the air in the dryer is saturated with water and can not hold anymore so your clothes wont dry. Check behind your dryer and Ill bet the vent line is damaged. The problem is the air is not getting out of the dryer. Check the flapper at the end of the vent line. With the dryer running go to the end of the vent hose and there will be no air coming thru.

The air is not getting out of the dryer. Your vent hose is crimped or cloged or the flapper outside the house is stuck.. Air is not getting out of the dryer thru the vent for what ever reason.
