Connects to computer, but when opening software it doesn't read it.
I can connect my MP3 player to the computer via USB and it reads and charges. But when I open the software to add songs and explore the player, it says to connect the mp3 player to the computer, it doesn't read... HELP!

I think holding down menu and the record button at the same time should fix it. I read the best solution and it just turned on. I was having the same problem, mine would not turn on either but just try pressing and holding down the record and menu button for about 5 seconds.
If your Computer can read other Devices such as USB Memory Sticks, that means that the the MP3 Player requires some drivers or needs some software. If your Computer cant read any USB Devices, then you need to install the USB Drivers for your computer.
my YP-U3 player will not connect via my USB port. When plugged in to a port that connects my digital camera normally it first says on screen "USB Connecting" then changes after 2 to 3 seconds to "disconnected - Charging". it has fully charged and no change. I have checked the hold switch is disengaged. the media studio software is installed ok and the portable devices functions are greyed out. I cannot find the device on my pc. I am running Windows XP SP2. I will be returning it to the store where it was purchased very soon if i cannot find a solution. I notice there are a lot of people who have posted similar problems that have not recieved solutions.ya i have th same problem im using window xp 2
I just fixed my own problem. I connected my player to another USB and it read it for a few minutes so I quickly used the websites Firmware and now it turns on and is read by my computer. Now the new problem is that when I try to add songs it says "Error." =(
Make sure you have media player 11 If you can, the best test is to try your player with another PC, to see if you still have the problem. This localises whether the problem is with the PC (most likely the USB) or the player. See the link below (search on "connection problems") for a lot more troubleshooting on this. Download recovery tool off creative's website. go to my computer > click on hardware tab >
click on device manager button > in the is next screen on the bottom should have>>universal serial bus controllers
(write these down just in case it cant find them)
right click on them and uninstall
reboot let windows reinstall them Also told Microsoft hotfix causes this problem try uninstalling the last hotfix If that doesn't fix it trythe USB cable good luck
please mark the post with a fixya!
It means your player is in Autodetect/MTP. For your computer to recognize the device you should have windows xp with windows media player 10 or 11 / windows vista with windows media player 11. If your computer is in MSC then you will have there a safely remove icon, because your player act like a thumb drive.
Note: You said it was working before on that computer try using a different usb port and uninstalling reinstalling your windows media player software. Hope this helps :D
