My battery plug in will recharge my computer. my computer will run fine without it until the battery time runs out. but it i try to run my computer with the battery plugged in my screen goes black and i have to unplug it and close and open the lid to my laptop. can you help. tks
1- Go to Control panel. 2- Click on Display icon. 3- Press on Change display setting. 4- Press on Advanced settings. 5- Choose Intel(R) Graphics and Media Control Panel. 6- Press on Characteristics fees. 7- Select Basic Mode, Then press Ok. 8- press on Power then set this setting: A- Power plans : Maximum Performance. B- On Power Source Choose (On battery) C- After you set power source (On battery) (Power conservation features) will appear press on (true) for Display power saving technology, then set it on (Maximum battery) then press on Apply, Then Ok.
After you set this setps Black screen will not appear after you plugin the charger in the laptop or even after you disconnect the charger from laptop.

hi.. Based on what you are stating, could be power supply problem. Try
replacing power supply adapter that Dell supplies. Go on Dell support
page using your computer number and you can see if there are any
manufacturers recall on the computer or the power supply...
1. Reseat the battery. 2. Remove All External Components 3. Check the battery connectors on the battery and the system. Examine the connector on the battery and the system. Make sure that there is no physical damage and that it is clear of debris. 4. Remove All External Components 5. Try a known-good battery in the system, if available.
your miracle,most laptop batteries have a life span of 4 years tops,but that if you take care of it,but most dont realize over charging kills the cells in your battery,and if you have it plugged up make sure you go into power settings and put it on ac/dc power settings.and if you have it away from home without power,put it on best battery settings,and let the power die all the way down before recharging,that will give it a full charge lasting longer.but as for your battery it might be time for a new one
Hi my inspiron 6400 cannot boot up after trying several time .I press switch on, then after 3 second it goes off again.Battery fully charge.

Could you please run the diagonistics on the computer? Turn on the computer. When the DELL logo appears, press <F12> immediately. Select Diagnostics from the boot menu and press <Enter>. NOTE: If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft Windows desktop. Then shut down your computer and try again. b Press and hold the <Fn> key while powering the system on.
Make a note of any errors that you get after running the diagnositcs on the computer.
