You'll have to check if windows is loading before it restarts. If windows starts loading before it shuts down and just loops all over again, you can easily fix this by simply re-installing your operating system. you can do this by booting from the recovery discs that came with the laptop. Now if the rebooting cycle happens before windows starts loading then this could either be a RAM or a motherboard issue and will need to be serviced.

If you don't have a copy of the recovery discs, you can always call Toshiba at 1-800-457-7777 and purchase one from them.

Mac monitor goes black after start up

is it a separate external Monitor or is it Part of an iMac.
Press Power On Button to reboot. Then immediately hold down these keys.
Cmd, Option, P, R, Keys all held down together.
Keep them down and you should hear another restart sound
Keep the Keys down
You should hear another startup chimes.
Do this for three or four startup chimes then let the keys go.
This Resets the Parameter Ram and may reset the monitor parameters to clear the problem.
You can also boot with the Option key held down.
Choose the Recovery OS Drive from the screen menu.
It will reboot from an alternate very basic OS.
You can run Disk Utility from here to test HD etc.
But if this screen stays working then you have a problem with your OSX that is on your Macintosh Disk drive.
You could also keep the SHIFT key down after the startup chimes.
This is SAFE Mode
Keep it down till you see some movement on the screen.
It will take a lot longer to boot up and you will have limited capabilities. this may also fix some parameters and extensions in the background which may fix the problem.
Then ReBoot as Normal an see what happens.
If the above works then it shows black screen again which a normal boot then it would be a good idea to get an external Hard Drive for your Mac. Plug it in and use Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) to make a clone of your existing HD. This will be a complete bootable copy of everything on your HD.
Once the Clone Copy is done. Proove that it is Bootable and contains all your files. ReBoot with option Key Down to choose the new clone to boot from. If All OK then...
Next step would be to use Disk Utility to re format your Internal Hard Drive and re install a new clean updated version of your OSX back on to your internal Hard Drive.
Then reboot and follow prompts to "Migrate" original hard drive files & settings back to the new OSX.
Once Done....
Reboot to your new fixed clean Updated Mac Computer

Apple Make it so easy.... try this with windows... Yea! Right!

Good Luck

When i want to shut down my laptop it wont shut down. it keeps saying shutting down. I have to turn of my battary and put it back. this is not the best solution iv checked all my program files and all are...

Start-Run - MSCONFIG
unselect all the startup items and reboot. Then check if it shuts down properly (which it should now) - then go through each startup item with a reboot inbetween to see which is the troublesome one.
Bear in mind you may disable your antivirus program doing this, so make sure this one is reselected after your troubleshooting.

My computer runs window 7 and it keeps shutting down for no reason and also it keeps freezes for sometime.

Reboot the computer in "Safe" mode and run it for a while and see if the same problems occur. If it doesn't, then I would suspect it is a software and not a hardware problem.

If you think it is a software problem, reboot the computer into safe mode again. Now click the start button and in the search box type MSCONFIG

When the window pops up click the "Selective Startup" button and then on the startup tab. Deselect all the checked boxes, click apply and ok, reboot the computer normally.

Now only the essential services will load and no programs will automatically load. If the computer continues to run normally, then you can go back into MSCONFIG go to the strat tab and start checking a few boxes to start again, like antivirus and malware first. Reboot the computer and see if it freezes with those programs running....if it does then you know one of those is the culprit, if not click a few more on and reboot until you find the trouble software.

WINDOWS WONT START UP when i try to repair it it says it is dowhloading windows and then a minute or two later it says it could not start and to turn off the laptop

  1. Hi, try rebooting the computer in one of the different "Modes" at startup, when the window prompts, "press the F2 button, select either "recovery mode" or "Safe" mode, if the computer, recycle back to the "Option start modes,; choose "Normal Mode." Next go to the Computer, open, and select "Properties," click to "Tools," in the (Error checking) window, select the (Check Now), you may have to choose "when the computer startup option." click "Apply and OK." When you start the computer again, a "Full" Disk Scan, will begin; be patience! this can take awhile. After the scan is complete, you should have an idea of what the problem is exactly. If you need further assistance afterwards? I'll be looking for an updated "Post" Thanks"Did this solution help?"

Toshiba satellite A70-KL1 notebook shuts down

Scan the Computer using any latest updated anti virus program for any potential threat.

If the computer is not infected by any virus or trojan then you may also try performing System restore to the time when the Computer worked normally.

If the Computer keeps shutting down randomly after turning ON then the Power Supply Unit in the Notebook requires service.

Computer will not boot up. I have tried to boot up in safe mode, normal, safe mode with prompt command...nothing works, just goes back to the normal start up screen and keeps doing the normal start up over...

It looks like you're encountering an endless reboot? Here's what to do to find the actual error message.

  1. Turn on the computer, and press F8 after the POST screen but before Windows attempts to start to access the advanced startup options.
  2. Select "Disable Automatic Restart On System Failure" and press Enter.
You should now get a blue screen with an error message and error codes. Please write these codes down and report back.

Unable to reboot

Sounds to me like you have a bad or dying power supply. Try finding a friend with a working power supply and hook it up to your computer, if the problem ceases, then go get yourself a new power supply. If the problem persists, it may be an issue with cables or the fuse, maybe even a bad motherboard.

On shutting down my laptop it gave the message, "installing 1 of 1" do not turn off your computer. It did not turn off all night. I turned it off by using the on/off button then shut it down...

When you start your laptop, press F8. You will get a menu (Normal boot, Reboot...). Choose Last good known configuration (something like that).
