Push power button, indicator lights come on, sensing light comes on. Push start button. Dryer makes a click and nothing happens.

I have the same problem. Goes to "sensing" but does not engage motor and start drying. Control panel lights will sequence through to end of cycle without motor ever moving. the power reboot option above did not resolve

Commonproblems...blown house fuse, broken belt ( on some models )...door switch...*thermal fuse open (venting needs attention )...broken or burnt wire....timer....motor, in order from mostcommon to least common. * If you find a blown thermal fuse, always clean, change, adjust the ventingsystem and vent hood first, then it is often a good idea to replace the operatingthermostat at the same time. This is a picture of some modernthermal fuses.

We just had this same problem today. The dryer cycles but the drum never moves. It was the dryer belt. Tore apart the dryer and the belt was broke.

Dear Gregcoury,
Welcome

You said, set control, turn on, sensing light comes, on dryer wont start, tried end of cycle button to reset, turn control lock on and off to no avail.

How Old Is the Dryer!!!!!!!!

Sounds like we need to try to reset the system!

Huuum At your service!
Lets try this,
Like with an error code.
This can reset the system if it is electronic!
Unplug the appliance and wait a 5 minutes then restart it.
If you can't reach the plug, use the breaker to cut the power for 5 minutes.

It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.

Let me know how it works!
Waiting for your reply!
Thank You
Huuum

Please remember to leave a appropriate rating when you are done!

I own a 4 yr old whirlpool duet dryer and controls locked light came on and can not get it to go off

Look for the End of Cycle button at the extreme right hand side of the console then press and hold it for 3 seconds or until the Control Locked light turns off. The instruction is actually printed right below the button. The control lock is a safety feature of the dryer to prevent settings manipulation during the drying cycle.

Unplug the dryer for at least 15 minutes to reset the central control unit if the control cannot be unlocked using the End of Cycle button. Let us know if it's still cannot be unlocked even after the machine is unplugged.
