If the speakers work during the test, then the issue might be with how surround sound is programmed on your tv. You should look into your sound settings with your tv's remote. Thank you.
Hi Anonymous, you are surely taking the signal for your wireless headphones, from the headphone output of your Bose sound system
This usually cuts the sound in the external speakers
Try to find another type of audio output for your headphones
Comment on what Bose system you have, so I would try to find a better solution
I hope you comment

hi check the speakers with a multimeter they are normally 8ohms, if ok, plug earphones into the tv ,see if you can hear sound if you can the sound prossesor is working you have faulty amp ic or a bad capacitor, thanks
sounds like the wrong plug end just because it works doesn't mean its right plug end. as usually the bulb on the tip of the plug closes a switch to turn tv speakers off this obviously isnt happening
This may help if the tv as a 3.5 ear phone socket try your earphones & see if the sound works if it do's then its prob the switch in the ear phone socket that's @ fault and norm inserting & pulling out the ear phone plug a few times can clear it
That PC audio socket miniphone jack is for AUDIO INPUT (Green jack) when you use it as a computer monitor, it is to be connected to the PC AUDIO OUTPUT jack (Green) on the PC. Your TV does not have headphone output jack.
To be able to use the headphone with this TV, you will need to look at the on screen sound setup to see if you can turn the TV speakers on/ and off first, if it does not have that function then there is not much you can do.
Post back what you find so we can go further.
If you are handy at repairing electronics, you can splice the white cord open and re-solder the wire if it is loose. However I NEVER use the iPod earphones - reason being is when I listen to a song on my iPod and the dial slips past 80% then speakers usually blow. I would buy a pair of Skullcandies, I have 2 pairs and they have never blown. They are only $14.99 at any Target/Walmart and you can definitely save yourself the hassle. Those earphones brand new at stores such as Radioshack are about $29.99, and are very mediocre.
Open control panel>> administrative tools>> computer management>> device manager. There u will find something like Sound, video and game controllers. Next, double click ur audio device and see that the device is working properly or not. If not, then install the drivers for the devices. If problem persists, type run in ur start menu search bar>> type "regedit" and press enter. Open the registry editor>>HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG>>System>>CurrentControlSet>>enum>>HD audio(or like that, may vary with operating systems and mounted devices) and finally search through to SPEAKER CONFIGURATIO. See that the registry data is set to 4. If not, set it manually. If problem persists, contact service centre.
The problem i have seen is the main surface mount IC ( the one with the heat sink) runs hot and the connections go bad from expanding. poor design. somtimes pressing down on the heat sink while its on will yield a picture and then goes out.
