It sounds like you're pressing the green button when you pick up the phone - when the phone is in the charger and you pick it up to answer it you'll be speaking straight away, no need to press any buttons.
You can toggle between speaker and the phone by pressing the green button.

Hope this helps...

SOURCE: No dial tone, just buzzing noise - should be 2 line phone, 1 jack

What you need is a dsl filter since you are working off a splitter. You can usually get these for free from your phone company.

SOURCE: My BT Verve 450 digital phone set won't ring out /incoming call

My GE cordless handset won't ring when it's on the base charging but it will when I take it off. I've taken off the battery and disconnect the phone from the wall to try to reset it, but it still doesn't ring.

The phone display says check phone line?

If you have dial tone then the part of the phone that senses the line is malfunctioning. If you do not have dial tone, (more likely. then check your phone cord, phone jack (try using a different jack or cord or you can test the ones you are using with a different telephone). Most likely there is some sort of short circuit or break in the phone line preventing the phone service from reaching the phone base.

Have dial tone ut can't call

We recommend you use the below link to check your dialing mode. If the correct dialing mode is used then test a different telephone line cord and jack.

RCA visys dect 6.0 Line 2's light is lit and no dial tone. All handset are in off mode. Only Line 1 is available

Are the phone cables correctly connected to the base unit? Try a new cable for Line 2, if you have separate L1 and L2 jacks. (If the lines are integrated in one jack, make sure to use a 4-conductor RJ11 cord.) I assume the service hasn't been cancelled for line 2 and that you are at a wall plate with both lines.
If you have separate jacks, I like to use a different phone to check the jack. (A simple old fashioned corded, single-line phone is useful to check for a dial tone.) Try checking Line 2 at another jack, if you have one.
If you do not have a dial tone, find where your service comes in. Open the box and look at the terminals. If you are lucky, you have an RJ11 port. Plug in your test phone in to the Line 2 connection and listen for a dial tone. If there is no dial tone, contact your telephone company. They will fix an outside line problem for free. (Mice and other things can damage the wiring. A lightning strike could damage a filter if you use the line for a high-speed internet connection.) If the terminal doesn't have an RJ-11 plug option, you will need to ask your telephone company to test the line.
If you recently had work done on the phone line, check for any wires that are loose. When we got our phone line upgraded to fiber optics, one of the telephone jack lines didn't get connected to the terminal in the new box. We found the wire behind the vinyl siding and got signal as soon as the wire was reconnected.)
If you have a dial tone at the box and no wires are obviously disconnected, you'll need to trace the wires inside to find a broken connection. If one jack worked for Line 2 and another didn't, check inside the wall plate. There are two wall-plate styles. The ones with a keystone jack needs the conductor wires pushed down into the correct slots. A punch-down tool is available from most hardware stores in the wiring section. The screw terminal type requires the individual wires to be stripped and then secured. The correct terminal positions are shown here: http://www.lanshack.com/wire_phone_jack.aspx . Otherwise, you need to trace the wires in the walls to find the break in the continuity. Your phone company will do this for you for a fee. If you have a line filter inside, try replacing it.

I hope this helps.

(I've called the phone company several times when we lost one line. Mice and lightning damage to the filter have both been culprits.)

If I enter the phone number and then press "talk", the numbers dial extremely quickly, a dial tone comes on, and I have to enter the numbers again. How do I fix this? It is a Vtech 6.0 DECT.

Usually there are two modes provided to all fixed line telephones. Tone mode and pulse mode. Pulse mode will dial the call slowly and Tone mode will dial calls quickly. Your phone is in Tone mode i guess. You need not dial the numbers again. Wait for few seconds and the call will get accomplished!

We have a no line message, and are not recieving phone calls. How do we fix that?

You need to find out where the fault is. I like an old corded phone for this. Check if a different phone gets a dial tone at the jack and other jacks inside the building. If no dial tone inside, find where the phone service comes in. Open that box and if it has a RJ-11 connection, check if you get dial tone at the junction. (If you have an older service, you will need a special line tester to check the service.) If you have no dial tone at the service box, contact your phone company - there is a problem with the service. (It could be some idiot damaged a wire digging or something else.) If there is a dial tone at the service connection, you need to find the break in your inside wiring. Open up the jacks and check any visible wiring for loose wires or damaged wires. If there is no obvious damage, you will need to look at the hidden wiring (a professional to do the work might be best).

Good luck.

(I've had dead phone lines outside the home from lightning (affected the DSL), an idiot road crew and one unknown malfunction. All of these were promptly fixed by the phone company technician.)

Need to change phone back to tone dialing

Here's what the manual says: Changing the Dial Mode (Tone or Pulse Dialing) (HS1 only) Your phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most phone networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing. If your phone company uses pulse dialing, you need to change your phone's dial mode. If you don't get a dial tone or can't connect to the telephone network, follow the steps below to modify your phone?s settings: With the phone in standby, press and hold [cid/menu]. Press [vol/ / ] to move the pointer to select DIAL. Press [select/channel] to set the phone to pulse dialing. Press [end]. Return the handset to the base. The handset communicates the new setting to the base, and the base activates the setting on any other handsets. Hope this helps out. K

Dial Tone - Number Dialed does not go through

The problem is possibly the keypad on the phone. Try another phone , preferrably a standard corded phone. If you still cannot break the dial tone, then the problem is with the telephone line (phone company)
