Question about Hitachi CM811 Plus 21 in. CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Color Adjustments How can you get into the menus to adjust the colors once you replace a CRT with a new one? There appears to be some type of serial connections for this. Is there an easy workaround.

My monitor does not have any red color to it is there a way to adj. color inside of monitor. thank you

It is very dangerous to work on tv's or monitors without the proper training. They hold voltage even after they are turned off and unplugged, enough to seriously injure someone. There are however adjustments that can be made once you crack open the casing, but if it has already lost color, it will only continue to lose it if you can ever get it set back right again. You best option would be to acquire another monitor. If you want to try it anyway, there are screws in the back of the metal chassis that adjust color, hue, brightness, and shape, that can be adjusted with a small screwdriver.

My monitor suddenly altered the colors on the screen; white background now appears slightly pink, green appears black. How can I make adjustment to correct the color?

your monitor is either going bad or your display setting are messed up.use the buttons on the front and mess with color option if that don't work then you need a new monitor

I have no color red on monitor.

Confirm the "no color red" by testing with another PC. If the same condition check if a color adjustment on the monitor is possible... like maybe a default setting. If the monitor still produces a bit of red it might be possible to edit the color adjustments using the advanced graphics adjustments; or a graphics program that your computers' manufacturer has available on your computer.

If nothing works the monitor may need repairs.

Compaq P 1220. how to enter service mode (menu)

You don't need to enter the service mode, simply turn off sRGB (from one of the other menus) and you'll be able to change the color temperature.

Colors are off after auto adjust

I seem to have found the solution (and the cause, perhaps?) for this problem!

I was having the EXACT same problem with a monitor I'm repairing for a friend. The capacitors on the power supply board were blown (CapXon capacitors, who'd've guessed), which was keeping it from powering up. After replacing the capacitors, the screen worked beautifully. But it had this weird yellow tint!

The strange part was that pure colors - red, green, blue - all appeared perfectly OK on screen. Curiously, the menus would show in the proper colors, except for one: the manual color adjustment menu, which illustrated "Blue" as a sort of off-green in the icon. Auto-Adjust would always fix the colors for a split second, then go back to yellow. Reset didn't fix it. Color reset didn't either. So, exactly the same problem as above.

The solution I found was hidden within the main menu itself, a sort of "easter egg". Hold the Menu button down while pressing Power, and hold it down until the screen, and menu, appear. There will now be a hidden selection, "Auto Color", printed in a red-on-black font at the bottom of the menu. Use the +/- buttons to access it, and press Menu. Voila! PERFECT COLOR! Perhaps this menu was accessed by accident, and calibrated to an incorrect color key. But now my picture works great, and the setting lasts through Auto-Adjusts and Resets!

Hope this helps some people, it sure saved my ****! ;)

Screen and colors too bright

CRT and LCD will look different when compared side by side. Is your CRT calibrated, or are they right in the sense that they are what you are used to? Also Anyway, you can adjust the colors and light levels from the menu on your screen, and depending on your operating system and graphics adapter you should be able to make adjustments there, too. For windows XP, right click your desktop and select properties->Settings->Advanced. There might be a color management tab. Also, there might be software to help you do this already installed. Look for a program group with the name of your Graphics adapter manufacturer. Very often ATI or nVidia. A few resources to help calibrate:

Color adjustment for CM 811U

Hi, if you are referring to the replacement of the picture tube, then yes, the color will have to be adjusted. However this should have been done by the tech personnel who did the replacment with a color bar generator and alignment tools. You can also try pressing the degauss button on the monitor to see if the color balances back. Hope this be of some help. Good luck
