I'm kinda having the same problem, moved into a new house and the washer and dryer were including. Very nice washer and dryer GE stand ups front loading doors.

Anyway I'm getting a very loud whistle sound only when water is being released into the washer and then when the water stop is make a loud banging hammer like sound.

I looked at my brothers set up as he lives on the same block and the only difference I see is he has what looks like these cartridiges looking thing on his pipes that look like they maybe reduce the vibration.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I see this in the above comment

"Too much water pressure can cause a whistling or squealing sound.Adjust the hot and cold intake water valves to relieve this sound."

Where do I look to possibly reduce the water pressure?

    Thanks

A common problem with the Neptune's and noise during the spin cycle happens when the bearings have gone out on the tub. Same problem I had. Replaced the bearings myself after ordering the parts and haven't had the noise since. It's back to working perfectly. Would only recommend you replace them if you're fairly mechanicaly inclined...it's a process but doable. Otherwise, call a service tech but be warned, they wanted to charge me $500...or I could buy a new tube with the bearing already installed for $800. Either way, isn't very cost effective depending on the age of the machine. If you know someone that's handy, there's tons of information on the web. I bought my parts from a guy on eBay and he included a service manual for my Neptune for free.

A heavy wash load may cause some thumping sounds as a spin cycle starts, but if it continues, your load may be unbalanced. Open the washer and try to balance the load before restarting.

A loud banging sound in the pipes is usually caused by a water hammer effect. Water hammer sounds are caused by a valve closing in the system, and yet the water in the pipe is still flowing because of its kinetic energy. The banging happens as the water hits the valve that prevents it from going any further. If the kinetic energy is great enough, it can actually cause a pipe to burst or explode at the end. If a valve is closed near the beginning or in the middle of a system, the water keeps flowing after that point, and it can actually create a vacuum. This vacuum can cause a pipe to implode if the stress is too great.
Roaring type noises may be coming from a spin bearing. This bearing probably had the grease washed from it because of a tub seal leak.

Squeaking sounds in a new washer are usually caused by the new parts getting broken in, and will usually go away after several washes.

The sounds of water gurgling, slurping, or sloshing during a spin cycle are usually caused by the drain pump pushing the water out of the washer tub.

Too much water pressure can cause a whistling or squealing sound. Adjust the hot and cold intake water valves to relieve this sound.

Metallic clinking sounds during spin or agitation may be the result of drive train components meshing during speed changes or after a pause.

Swishing or swooshing type of sounds may be caused by water and suds trapped between the tub and basket during a spin cycle, and will usually clear up as the water is drained from the washer

What causes a very loud noise like a jet taking off when the spin cycle starts

If its a front load washer then the rear bearing is wore out. This involves a costly repair

Our Whirlpool Cabrio used to make a knocking sound during the wash cycle, never figured out what it was, then it stopped and now it's so loud, especially during a spin cycle. Sounds like it's going to...

First, have you replaced any carpeted surfaces in your home? If so that will make a big difference noise wise. If not-
Let me guess, the washer is a few years old. When the Cabrio first came out I sold them and I bought one. As long as you can stand the noise use it for as long as you can. The problem is the drive shaft wasn't made sturdy enough to handle the load at such a high spin. If you look underneath the washer you will probably find a oily substance, if not you still may have some time left. Take an old piece of carpet or throw rug and slide it underneath that may mellow out the '757 jet' noise a little bit. The parts and tools to repair the drive shaft only runs around a $100, but the labor takes 2 men and is super intensive. The repair bill more than likely will run between $450-$550. If you love your Cabrio as much as I did, the good news is Whirlpool has remedied the problem on MOST of their newer models (do some research). I haven't worked in the appliance business for a few years, but would I buy another Cabrio? I already have.

During spin cycle washer is making loud noise

If it is making a sound like a loud rumbling sound similar to a jet plane taking off, it probally due to the seal has failed causing water to leak into the bearings. The bearings begin to rust, and no longer round and the noise gets progressively louder. It can be rather expensive to fix. Get a few estimates before deciding whether it is worth fixing.

Makes loud noise in spin cycle

The problem is that the seals are leaking and allowing water to attack the tub bearings.
You need new tub seals and bearings.....not as difficult as it may seem.
see u tube video on replacing maytag seals and bearings

Maytag washer makes loud grinding noise during the spin cycle

if it's making a noise then either your drain pump bearing is going out or your thrust bearing is going out (assuming the noise happens in both spin and wash). Tip the washer backwards so that you can get underneath of it. Take the belt off and spin the pump pulley on the right side. This should spin effortlessly.

The middle pulley is the trustbearing pulley. Spin this--- one direction it should have a little bit of resistance--- the other should have more resistance

Extremely loud noise during spin cycle of my Neptune dryer--just started happening in the last month. The dryer is probably 7-8 years old, so it's not the newer Neptune model.
