My one month old vacuum cleaner has stopped picking up - can't find the blockage - everything else working as normal. Can you help

same problem - you need to have the nossel end over anything you are attemping to pick up and even that is not 100% successful. Checked all the filters and airways for blockages and it still doesnt pick up.

I have exactly the same problem with the 1900 model of the same vacuum. Got this in January so haven't even had it two
full months yet. It suddenly stopped picking up anythinga few days ago,
so I cleaned all the bits and pieces as usual thinking that would solve
the problem, but no luck. The tube thingy still works just fine, but
the brush underneath has just completely stopped turning, so it is
essentially useless unless I start running the tiny tube nozzle over
every inch of my carpets (since I paid the better part of £100 for the
wretched thing I have absolutely no intention of doing this!). All it
does when I switch it on now is make enough noise to wake the dead.

I'm all the more disappointed because when I first got it it worked
really well. I haven't over-used it and have followed the maintenance
instructions to the letter, so I can only conclude that it is very
poorly made. Add to this the fact that I waited a whole month to throw
out the box (in case something like this happened), only for this
malfunction to come about literally hours after the box got taken to
the dump, and you're left with a very cheesed off customer. It seems
I'm fated to hours and hours of telephone calls to Electrolux to get my
money back or a replacement. I don't think -2 months is an acceptable
lifespan for a £100 vacuum cleaner.

Electrolux Velocity pet lover 1800W Drive belts keep on breaking...

Dear Judy, there are several things that can cause the problem you are having but I can give you a few things to look at. First is that you are getting the correct belt for your machine. Second is the motor and brush roll moving freely after you install a new belt & before you start vacuuming?. Third is the machine set at it's lowest setting(try a higher setting to start) finally is the belt an after-market made in china one. Quality in Chinese rubber products can suck at times. If all this is ok than it maybe best to take to your local vacuum repair shop. Good Luck-Jack of all trades bob

Is the flex all right? Check it with a voltmeter or a continuity meter (available for a small sum in your local hardware or electrical shop).

Electrolux pet lover loss of suction through the hose

I would use a snake for plumbing (sinks) and feed it down the hose to find and clear this blockage if you can remove the hose compressed air may also work.

I have a dyson animal dc24. It is 7 months old and has stopped working. The hand tool is working fine but when I insert it to engage in normal vaccuming the suction stops. I can hear a strange air sound....

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear your DC24 Animal isn't picking up as well as usual. Although I note you've already checked for blockages, it sounds as though this is likely to be the cause of the issue.

To locate and remove any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://support.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

In normal use, the filters should be washed at least once a month, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow the filters to dry somewhere warm for at least 24 hours before replacing them in the machine.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766.

Best wishes,

No suction on floors but OK on hose

Hi there,

If your DC04 picks up as normal through the wand, but not through the cleaner head, this may be due to a blockage in the machine. The filter may also need a wash. To locate and remove any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://support.dyson.co.uk/support/dc04/dc04-brush-control/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/wand-suction

In normal use, the filter should be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for it to dry completely before replacing it.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like further assistance or advice, please call us on 0800 298 0298 - our Helpline is available from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week.

Vacuum does not have suction (but attachment port does)

Hi Burt,

The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=4&product=DC07-SY-HEPA_US

In normal use, the filter needs washing at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US) so we can help.
