SOURCE: I need to know how to change the blade on a Black

Go to Dewaltservicenet.com and in the middle of the page towards the bottom type in the model number 1710 and it will go to another page requesting either a breakdown or instruction manual, you have to use the manual for a type 4. They do not offer the type 2 as an online version. Hope this helps

Need to replace a miter saw blade on Black & Decker saw

If you don't have a manual, you can contact Dewalt, and they will get you one or help you. UNPLUG THE SAW!! , if your saw has a blade lock, engage it, if it doesn't hold the saw firmly on a scrap piece of wood. Then use the correct wrench and loosen the retaining nut. Take the nut off, remove the blade

No as long as they move freely in the brush tube they should be fine. You have another problem, let me know what the old brushes looked like and I will try and help

I have an older model black and decker miter saw. How do you change the blade? I can't seem to stop the motor shaft from turning in order to loosen the nut to remove the blade?

Hi, you need to look thoroughly at the casing of the electric motor. Somewhere between the motor and the gearbox is the brake which must be depressed in order to stop the motor from turning. If for some reason you cannot find this brake, use a pair of vise grips and clamp down on the inside of the blade and turn it until it stops. Now you can unbolt you blade. P.S. make sure you know if the thread is reverse or not! Good luck.

My black and decker miter saw is plugged in and will not work. I just used it yesterday and it worked fine without any sign of problems. What could be wrong?

Make sure something else works where it is plugged in.
There may be a small thermal reset button you have to push, near the motor.
The switch could have gone bad, because they have that extra safety you have to push. Check for 110 AC at both sides of the switch when pressed.
