If we are talking the three cylinder CB23 engine the mixture screw is hard to get to and has an anti tamper shroud to stop prying fingers.

The Aisan carby is pretty reliable and problems with them on these engines is usually due to improper vacuum hose connections, or improperly adjusted idle, fast idle and deceleration screws.

A/F ratio is around the standard 14.7, but being a carby you will not get consistent mixtures because the jets sizes are fixed . On an EFI engine you can control the fuel flow, but not so with jets.

If you do decide to give your carby a birthday make sure you only buy the Daihatsu genuine, because the after market units have issues with quality. The minor rebuild kit part No 0421287704000 and the major overhaul kit with plunger, needles, gaskets, clips, etc is part No 0421187729000.

If it was me I'd be concentrating on the hoses, the PCV valve, contact points in the dizzy and better spark plugs first. If you want much better idling and a bit better pull get an electronic dizzy and coil from a G200 series Charade.

1989 Mira Automatic stalls when coming to a stop unless I pull the choke out

Your idle fuel mixture it too lean. What this means is that it is not getting enough fuel at an idle. The most common reason for such problems are either problems with the linkage or vacuum lines or dirt or water in the carburetor. Make sure all your vacuum lines are good and connected, especially the one that goes to your distributor. Unless your fuel system has water in it or has had the filter removed and replaced with a hose, it is unlikely that the problem is the carburetor, unless the car has been sitting for a long time. Check these other things, first. Also, before your pull your carburetor off if these other things are not the problem, make sure your engine ignition has been properly tuned. Ignition problems are the most common problems on gasoline engines.

My 1994 daihatsu charade seems to flatspot all the time , could it just need a tune up

If it's not had a service for a fair while I would start by fitting a new set of spark plugs, and air filter element, so you are starting from a firm footing, if still problems it may be worth a quick engine check

Gas and petrol problem

Might be time to change plugs.Use NGK V Grooves. Also could be that you have not run on petrol for a while?Gas is a smoother running fuel than petrol and an engine must run on petrol correctly before tuning gas.Check that H/T leads and distributor are in a good servicable condition.Make sure you have no engine vacuum leaks.Let me know how you go and if you need further help.I fit and repair LPG vehicles on a daily basis.

you cant fix the belt, but can replace it. there are 2 belts on my charade 88. one is for engine and the other is for air-condition. Start your car and check which one belongs to engine and which one to air-condition. if you find the correct one, take a road. put it on the belt and move the belt. you can remove it easily. in the same manner you can place the new belt. But take care of your hands.

Car idling - carburetor

If you have oil in the water it smacks of a problems with the gasket or a crack in the head. Did you tension the head with a torque wrench? Did you retension after the first drive, with engine cool? What do the spark plugs look like?

Did you adjust the ignition timing after replacing the points?

You need to check the throttle stop cushion is making contact. The engine will hunt if you have air in the throttlebody coolant pipes, if the coolant sensor is faulty or if the TPS isn't calibrated.
